Jungkook POV

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. This man—whoever the hell he was—just waltzed into my room, talking about saving Rose from me. My entire body went on high alert, a thousand questions running through my mind. But right now, all I could focus on was the threat in front of me.

I took my gun from the bedside table and leveled my gaze at him. "You've got ten seconds to explain yourself before I make sure you never step foot in this hotel again."

Mingyu didn't back down, his jaw tightening. "I'm here to protect her from people like you.""People like me?" I growled, aiming directly at his head. "You don't know a damn thing about me."

"I know enough," Mingyu shot back, his voice cold. "Enough to know you're not the kind of man she should be with."

The air in the room thickened, and I could feel my temper rising. I glanced at Rose—her face pale, her eyes wide with uncertainty. Something was off. The way they looked at each other, the way she hadn't denied anything—there was history between them, and it was about to blow up in my face.

But instead of letting the tension consume me, I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm. "Rose," I said quietly, my eyes never leaving hers. "What's going on?"

She swallowed, her voice trembling slightly. "Jungkook, it's not what you think. Mingyu—he's just trying to help. But he doesn't understand—"

Suddenly, Rose's words were cut off by the deafening sound of a gunshot.

I had barely a second to react before Mingyu fired, aiming directly at me. Instinct took over. I dodged to the side, feeling the heat of the bullet whizzing past me, missing by inches. There was now a hole in the bedroom door.

Before I could even process what had just happened, Mingyu moved quickly, yanking the window open wider. He gave me one last look, filled with fury, then grabbed Rose by the wrist.

"Let's go Chaeyoung!" Mingyu shouted, trying to drag her away.

"Wait! Mingyu—stop!" Rose yelled, struggling against his grip, her face filled with panic.

My mind snapped back into action, adrenaline surging through my veins. I lunged forward, grabbing my gun again. "Let her go!"

Mingyu didn't stop, his eyes wild with desperation. Rose was caught in the middle, torn between trying to free herself from Mingyu and looking back at me, her eyes pleading. The chaos of the moment was almost too much to process, but there was one thing I knew for sure—I wasn't going to let her go without a fight.

"Mingyu!" Rose screamed again, pulling her arm free, but Mingyu was already at the window, ready to make his escape.

I raised my gun, aiming at his leg, but in the split second I hesitated, he leaped out of the window, disappearing into the night.

I clenched my jaw in frustration. **Where the hell are my bodyguards?** I thought. **I told them to keep an eye on us both.** I knew I'd have to deal with them later. I quickly put on my pants and walked toward Rose.

"Hey, are you okay, baby?" I asked softly. She looked confused and scared. I pulled her into a tight embrace, trying to comfort her.

"I'm okay, but aren't you hurt?" She looked at me, her hands checking me all over for injuries. I chuckled at the panicked expression on her face.

"You can touch me anywhere you want, babe," I smirked. "My body is yours."Her face flushed red, and she punched me lightly on the chest.

"That's not funny, Jungkook..." she muttered.

I knew. I'd never hesitated like this before, not with any target. But Rose... she changed me.

"I know, baby. I'm sorry," I whispered, holding her petite body close and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.

"Jungkook, I need to tell you something..."
