Rose POV

I woke up in the middle of the night, feeling the warmth of our naked bodies pressed together. Jungkook's arm was wrapped tightly around me, his chest rising and falling steadily. His lashes rested softly against his skin, eyes shut, peaceful. He looked so different like this—vulnerable, almost like a giant baby bunny. I couldn't help but smile, thinking about how far we've come.

I hadn't told him my real name yet. The thought crossed my mind, but I didn't want to wake him. There would be time for that later. I trusted him. Despite everything, despite knowing what he's involved in, I believed him. He wasn't responsible for my past. I knew that much.

Suddenly, a soft knock echoed through the room, breaking the silence. My heart skipped a beat. I turned carefully, making sure not to wake Jungkook. His arm was still draped over me, but he didn't stir. I slipped out of bed as quietly as possible and padded across the room, quickly pulling on my bathrobe to cover myself.

I moved to the window, cautiously pulling back the curtain, my breath catching in my throat when I saw Mingyu. He was hanging there, suspended by ropes, dressed all in black like a shadow clinging to the side of the building. I gasped softly, my mind racing. It was dangerous for him to be here—if Jungkook's bodyguards saw him, it could be over in an instant.

I opened the window just enough to let him slip inside. "What the hell are you doing?" I whispered sharply, keeping my voice low. My eyes darted to the bed, checking to see if Jungkook had woken up. Thankfully, he was still fast asleep.

Mingyu landed lightly on his feet, his expression a mix of urgency and frustration. "We need to talk. Now."

I shook my head. "Not here. Do you have any idea what you're risking by showing up like this?""I don't care," he snapped, his eyes narrowing. "You're in too deep, Chaeyoung."

I winced at the sound of my fake name. He didn't know the truth, and now wasn't the time to explain. "I'm handling it," I whispered, moving closer to him, keeping my voice calm. "Just go, Mingyu. We'll talk later."

He shook his head, his jaw set. "No, you're not. You're falling for him, aren't you? You don't even see what's happening."

I swallowed, not daring to answer. Because the truth was, I was falling for Jungkook. And maybe Mingyu could see it before I even realized it myself.

"He's not like that," I whispered, my voice trembling slightly. "He's different."

Mingyu let out a bitter laugh. "Different? Chaeyoung, he's the head of one of the most dangerous crime syndicates in the country. You think you're special? You're not the first girl he's charmed."

The words stung, but I kept my expression steady. "You don't know him."

"And you do?" he shot back, stepping closer, his eyes flashing with frustration. "How much do you really know about him, huh? You don't even know his full story."

I didn't respond, because in a way, he was right. There were still parts of Jungkook's life he hadn't shared with me. But deep down, I felt like I knew the real him—the man who held me so tenderly, who let his guard down when we were alone.

"I'm not leaving," Mingyu said firmly. "Not until you understand what you're getting yourself into."

Just then, I heard a quiet rustle from the bed, and my heart dropped. I turned slowly, my pulse racing, only to see Jungkook sitting up, his eyes wide and alert.

"Rose?" His voice was groggy but laced with suspicion as his gaze flicked between me and Mingyu.

Damn it.

Jungkook's eyes darkened as he assessed the situation. He stood slowly, his movements controlled, but I could feel the tension radiating off him. "Who the hell is this?"

Mingyu squared his shoulders, stepping forward. "I'm the one trying to save her from you."
