Chapter 19- Movies
We were seeing ‘Green Hornet’ at the town’s theater. I was absolutely thrilled that my mom even agreed to let Rob and I date, even with another couple with us. My mom dropped me off at the theater’s entrance and waited until she saw Rob’s car approaching before she waved goodbye and drove away.
He stepped out of his car and saw me; a tentative smile crossed his cute lips as he strode over to where I was. “Hey,” I breathed. He seemed confused, as if he knew I was hiding something. But he kept up with his silly smiling stupor, and I finally had the presence of mind to smile back. We waited in silence for a few more minutes for Olivia and Jeremy’s arrival.
They both came in the same car, surprisingly. I hadn’t known that Olivia knew where Jeremy lived. She was taking me home tonight after the movie, so I found it good to know that he’d be with us. I was glad she found it important enough to tell me. Note the sarcasm.
We entered the movie theater, after buying popcorn and drinks (of course). The movie was about to start when we entered, so it didn’t save us time for much talking before the show.
The light finally dimmed and the movie started. All in all, Seth Rogen was amazing, especially in the fight scenes. Jay Chou was even better since his mind somehow slowed down time, which gave him awesome fighting skills. And not to mention the nerdy side of him.
When the movie was nearing the end, I whirled my head to see Olivia stomping out of the theater, Jeremy following close behind. I wondered what it was about. “What happened?” I whispered to Rob.
“The movie’s almost over… just wait till the end and we’ll go see what happened.” Rob said, putting his arm around my slyly. I smiled, glad that he was here.
I immediately frowned again as thoughts of Taylor resurfaced. And then came the subtle groan as I wondered when I was ever going to forget. Rob laughed as Britt, the main character, faked being shot by the help of his trusty sidekick. I did not laugh, but instead looked at him puzzlingly, trying to will myself to accept him.
No one can choose whom to love, right? I always wished it weren’t true. Because I knew… I knew I wouldn’t ever choose to love Taylor. Rob… he was a decent, successful, loving teenager who probably liked me a lot. And I was basically in love with someone else. I was so selfish.
We exited the theater as soon as the credits were on-screen. It wasn’t tough to find Jeremy… Olivia was screaming at him with as much force as I’d ever seen. People all over the theater’s concession lines were staring with interest. “You… tried to kiss me??” She screamed at him; all the while Jeremy stared back, clearly distraught.
“I… I’m sorry. I…”
“You bet your sorry! Never in a million years would I move that fast with some kid I jus met. Who do you think you are?”
“I’m sorry. Really I am.” His eyes shot at us, looking uterrly helpless. Rob shrugged and I have a rueful smile.
“You’re damn right!” Olivia said. She never cursed. This was far beyond just a kiss. No way she would blow up this much over a kiss… Right? When Jeremy didn’t say anything for a full thirty seconds, Olivia seemed to look around finally and realize that everyone was watching.
Looking as embarrassed as I’d ever seen her, she stomped off into the girls’ bathroom. It was quiet for a few minutes. Rob and Jeremy was talking telepathically, as the two always did. Now instead of being nervous about my friend, I was angry that they were keeping an entire conversation from me. It’s just PMS, I told myself.
