- emotional confusion -
                         - an interlude chapter -

In shadows deep, a secret veiled,
A friendship's bond, now frailly sailed.
The box I held, a cryptic guise,
Unveiled by truth, where trust denies.

Beneath dim lights, our paths converge,
The past resurfaces, emotions surge.
A chief of justice, a friend of old,
A revelation, a tale unfolds.

His gaze, a dagger, piercing through,
Betrayal's echo, a painful hue.
The box slips free, my grip unwound,
A shattered trust, on cold ground.

Words unspoken, emotions bare,
In silence, hearts begin to tear.
The night unfolds its anguished song,
A friendship lost, where shadows throng.

No refuge found in whispered sighs,
A secret severed, in tearful eyes.
Promises broken, echoes of disdain,
In this angst-filled poem, heartache's refrain.

In the aftermath of the revelation's sting,
He stands alone, a tumult within.
Betrayed by truth, emotions twist,
A tangled web, in shadows kissed.

He wonders now, in the silent night,
What lingers in the recesses, out of sight.
Feelings buried, or perhaps concealed,
A conflicted heart, an unhealed field.

Does nostalgia dance with the pain?
Or does regret course through each vein?
The chief of justice, now in solitude,
Questions bloom, a quiet interlude.

In the quiet of the night's embrace,
He ponders a past he can't erase.
Feelings undefined, emotions entwined,
A complex tapestry in his conflicted mind.

Love-fuelled despair is another human emotion that we bare the weight of everyday.

I wish I could protect you.

But I can't if you lie to me.
