I WATCH AS BELLA WALKS INTO THE CAFETERIA. I wait at the Cullen's table, she likes sitting here. I listen to how Angela tells everyone about what she saw. Bella hesitates, her gaze flickering to them and to me.
Bella nudges her head to them and I nod, pushing myself from the table. Jessica locks eyes with Bella and her smile falls. "I mean you're not the only one." Bella says before clearing her throat. I pull back a chair and sit down in it.
"My dad's been getting reports at the station, like five hikers have been killed by some bear, only they can't find the bear." Angela hums, being right. She turns to her boyfriend with raised eyebrows and pursed lips. He lets out an awkward chuckle. "Last time you clowns doubt my girlfriend." He says and Mike clears his throat, turning his body to face Bella.
I turn away, leaving them talk to each other. "Angela your hairstyle looks really cute." I say to her and she smiles at me. "Thank you, I got this new head band, I wasn't too sure on it, but I like it a lot more now." She smiles out embarrassed.
"Now that you're talking, and you know eating again," Mike takes a glance at me. "We don't need another Tallulah." He laughs out and I bite on my tongue, flabbergasted. My eyes widen and Bella gives Mike a look. He clears his throat under her cold gaze.
"I mean he's not wrong, you do have an eating disorder." Jessica laughs out, she just wants Mike to like her. "I'm a ballerina, of course I have an eating disorder." Bella interrupts the awkward silence. "Do you guys wanna go see Face Punch?" Bella asks, her gaze locked on me. She moves her eyes to Mike, and then back to mine.
I nod my head, understanding her signal. "Yeah, sure. Hey, we should see if Jake wants to come." Bella nods in agreement with my suggestion. "Mike, hey, we were supposed to watch that. The trailers all like, boom, boom, punch faces." Eric makes a fist and punches his palm.
"Movie night with Bella." Jessica says in a sing song sarcastically.

Cars blare all around me as I pay for my ticket. "Thank you." I say and hold the paper in my hand, walking over to Jacob and Mike who awkwardly talk to each other. "Hope you guys didn't try to kill each other." I joke out and Jacob laughs. Bella walks over to us, playing with the zip of her jacket.
"Jessica bailed, and Angela got the stomach flu so Eric's taking care of her, it's just us four." Bella says and looks between the two boys. "Oh Dio, non sono pronto per questo." I mumble under my breath and Bella lets out a small chuckle.

I silence a yawn as I watch the movie on the screen. Mike and Jacob insisted on sitting by Bella and both of their hands are rested on the arm rest for her to hold. Mike blinks rapidly before rushing out, mumbling how he's going to throw up.
Bella and Jacob push themselves from their seats and I do the same. The three of us hush our giggles as we exit the theatre. "What a marshmallow." Jake says with a laugh. "You should hold out for someone with a stronger stomach." Bella laughs and I grimace as I hear the sound of Mike throwing up.
"Someone who laughs at the gore that makes weaker men vomit." Jake says to her and she laughs. "Yeah, I'll keep my eye open for that." Bella says and we walk over to the stairs. "I feel bad, he probably has that flu that's going around." I say and watch as Bella's breath hitches when Jacob takes her hand.
She pulls it back. "What? I can't hold your hand?" He asks her and I awkwardly rock on my heels as they speak. I turn to look at myself in the mirror beside the stairs. I fix my curls over my shoulder's and look at my black eyes. My throat doesn't burn or ache, I don't feel any different, I don't feel hungry.
Bella moves and sits on the stairs, Jake leans against the railings. I can hear how his heart beats, how it beats for her, but Bella's beats for someone else, her heart beats for Edward. I look at myself in the mirror, and despite how my head is trying to protect me, my heart is longing for Jasper to return.
Why has my entire existence been thrown upside down from him leaving? As I stare at myself in the mirror, Jasper appears behind me, a fragment of my imagination. He stands behind me, looking over at me. He smiles down at me, I can see it in the mirror.
My undead heart spikes beneath my chest. It pinches and aches as I see his face before it vanishes as I turn around. Mike walks over to us, sniffling. "Well, I need to go home." He says to us, locking eyes with Jake. His heart beats quickly beneath my chest, like a drum in my ears.
I can see his blood boiling beneath his skin. "I was feeling sick before the movie." Mike adds, feeling judged by Jacob. Jake scoffs. "What is your problem?" Mike asks him. Bella looks at me, and I look back at her. I'll intervene if something happens. "Right now, you're my problem." Jake says, looking him up and down.
"Feeling sick? Maybe you need to go to the hospital, want me to put you in the hospital?" Jake stands up suddenly and I grip his wrist. His skin is boiling whilst mine is ice cold. I scan my eyes over his face, he's angry.
"Jake, the movie's over." I say to him and he looks at me. My face is stern, telling him to leave it. "You're really hot, like you feel like you have a fever, are you okay?" Bella asks him, taking his other hand. "I don't know what's happening." He says and I slip into his mind.
You're changing. Becoming one of them.
He looks at me, letting out small pants. He doesn't try to deny what I said. "I gotta go." He says and I let go of his wrist. He rushes past Bella and I and leaves the building.
"Dude is weird." Mike says and I take Bella's hand with me, following after Jake. "Where are we going?" The human asks me and I follow Jake's scent. The boy left so suddenly and I spot him getting into a car. He's gotten a taxi. I let out a sigh, trailing my eyes over the taxi in the distance.
"He's going to need a friend, and it can't be me."
