I HOLD THE DELICATE PAGES OF A BOOK BETWEEN MY FINGERS. My eyes scan through the insides, reading over everything to do with Immortal Children. "Immortal children were very beautiful." Carlisle says and I take a glance at him. "So enchanting, to be near them was to love them." Jasper leans an over me, his arms pressing into the table on either side of me as I hold out the book for the both of us to read.
"But their development was frozen at the age they were turned. They couldn't be taught or restrained." Claretta isn't like them, she's growing, and she's learning. "A single tantrum could destroy an entire village." I lock eyes with my best friend as she reads a different book.
The only thing about Claretta that could destroy a village is her gift, the gift she got from me. But I'm teaching her how to control it, just as I'm still learning myself. I still don't know the entire capabilities of my powers, and that frightening to me.
"Humans heard about the devastation. Stories spread. The Volturi were forced to intervene." My eyes skim to Carlisle's. "Since the children couldn't protect our secret, they had to be destroyed." He locks eyes with me. "Their creators grew very attached and fought to protect them." Esme looks sadly at her husband as he continues. I read his mind and my eyes widen.
"Long established covens were torn apart. Countless humans slaughtered. Traditions, friends, even families, lost." I keep my eyes on Carlisle. "So, the Denali's mother made an immortal child." Jasper tilts his head to look at me, his face inches apart from my cheek. "Yes, and she paid the price." Jasper presses a soft kiss to my cheek, before moving the book from my hands and placing it on the table.
"Well, Renesmee and Claretta are nothing like those children." Bella says, anger hidden in her voice but I notice it. "They were born. Not bitten, and they both grow every single day." Bella tells the older blonde vampire and her rage becomes noticeable in her tone. I give my husband a glance and he takes my hand, he concentrates on Bella and sends calming waves through her.
"Can't you just explain that to the Volturi?" Jake asks, standing beside Bella who sits opposite me and I look at him. "Aro has enough proof in Irina's thoughts." I say to the wolf and he looks at me. "So we fight." He points out. "Their offensive weapons are too powerful. Only Tallulah can stand against Jane." My husband says before Alice joins in.
"Alec's even worse." Her high voice points out and Victor wraps an arm around her short body. "Well then we convince them." Bella says, her voice cold and sharp. "They're coming to kill us, not to talk." I lock eyes with Emmett. "If that happens, I can handle them. You guys know I can." I only say this because I managed to once before, when I barely had any control over my gift.
