Chapter 5: Notes and Newcomers

Time passes and Draco was less fond of Cayden's ferret. Many of their friends have started joking that maybe Draco was the real father of Caydens pet. They ended up just calling him "Uncle Draco" whenever he was in the same general area as Nox which was not helping. Cayden does well in most of his classes, DADA was awkward with Moody, aratmacy was boring, but double Potions is fun. Thankfully though Cayden still goes to his evening class and sits next to Luna.

"So you really hate Moody don't you." Cayden says.

"Why would you think that." She asks looking at the front.

"Well your booing him when he was named kind of tipped me off." Cayden says.

"Well he is a killer, I don't like people who kill." Luna says.

"Come on, its more. Who did he kill?" Cayden asks.

"My uncle Evan Rosier in the first war, my mother used to tell me stories about him. They were very close and he killed him." She says.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't know." Cayden says. "We can hate him together, he is very rude."

"What did he do to you?" She asks.

"Threw me in the air." Cayden said.

"I see." She says. They learn more spells and practise old ones. Cayden had gotten very good at the bandaging charm especially after last year and vulnera sanentur which was good for deep cuts and gashes. He couldn't quite apeno (anti choking vanishing type charm) or the pain extraction spell. Still he loves the class it was quite fun and he and Luna had a good time chatting with each other. Madame pomfrey of course comes up to him to check up on him and make sure he's alright which he assures her he is.

Its a few days before Cayden runs into harry outside of class.

"How, uh, are you doing after, you know." Harry asks sheepishly.

"I'll live." Cayden says.

"Why'd you do it?" Harry asks.

"Why did I protect my friend?" Cayden retorts.

"I just mean." Harry starts.

"Moody was out of line, that was unreasonable he could have seriously hurt Draco. I dont know what his problem is but he is not fit to teach did you actually read the papers he's dangerous he kills people is that really someone who children are safe around?" Cayden snaps.

"I don' know." Harry says. It's a little awkward for a minute so Cayden speaks up.

"Sorry for snapping." He says.

"I kinda deserve it, honestly if it was Malfoy being thrown in the air I probably would have laughed." Harry says ashamed.

"He isn't a great person but he doesn't deserve torture." Cayden says.

"Yeah, I know." Harry says. "How's uh Noxxie you said the name was?" At the meantion of his name Cayden's ferret wakes up and peaks out of his bag.

"He's good. Draco gets a little weird around him now." Cayden says holding up the creature letting Harry pet it. Blaise walks by them and puts his arm around Cayden's shoulders.

"Oi, he's not causing you guys any problems is he." Blaise says.

"Nah, Harry's chill." Cayden says taking back Nox.

"Anyway Cay we should go back wouldn't want to get caught lottering." Blaise says. Cayden waves bye to Harry and goes with Blaise.

"You know you don't need to be rude to him, its not his fault." Cayden says.

"Yeah well I didn't see him trying to stop Moody from throwing you." Blaise says still keeping his arm around him.

"And who exactly is this Cay?" Cayden says smirking at Blaise ducking under his arm.
