Chapter 9: Dates and Dancing

"The Yule Ball." Professor Mcgonalgal started. A few students groaned some giggled but she continued on. "It is a tradition, fourth years and above will be attending, you may invite younger students if you wish." Many of the ravenclaws groaned at taking time away from their studies, the slytherins however were excited. Well most were at least. Cayden now had to figure out how he would manage to get a decent outfit, actually it would be far easier not to attend. The rest of the day ended up being filled with this nonsense. Everyone was talking about what they would wear and who they would ask out. During the day pansy and her friends were talking often about what they were going to wear, turns out Pansy had heard of a tailor in hogsmeade and now they had plans for their next hogsmeade trip. His friends had other ideas, at night when the boys had all decided to take over Draco's bed and plan their dates. Cayden was unfortunately dragged into the mess.

"We need dates!" Blaise says.

"Oh please not you as well." Cayden says. "I swear everyone is talking about this stupid ball."

"Well some of us have images to maintain." Theodore states proudly.

"Someone in mind there Nott?" Draco asks slyly to which Theodore looks shocked before averting his gaze.

"No way Theo likes a girl, a real human girl?" Blaise says feigning shock.

"Who is it?" Gregory asks eagerly awaiting his answer.

"Does no one else have anything better to mention." Theodore asks trying to shift the focus off of himself.

"I mean I was thinking of asking Lisa." Vincent says.

"Turpin the ravenclaw girl, the one who sits across from you in transfiguration?" Cayden asks.

"Is this cause she helped you out the last three classes?" Gregory asks.

"Maybe." Vincent says.

"Wait how do you know so much about her?" Blaise asks pointedly looking at Cayden.

"Oh I've seen her around she dropped in on one of my lessons with madame pomfrey." Cayden says.

"Oooo maybe Cayden could feel it out for you." Gregory says.

"I can ask Luna but she only came to the one lesson but ask her anyway. Worse case she says no and you move on." Cayden says leaning back against the bedpost.

"Great now that we've got that done with lets get back to what our lovely Theo was saying." Blaise says making sure not to let anyone forget.

"Yes I am quite interested in seeing who could possibly live up to your im sure unbelievably high standards." Cayden says as Nox hops up onto his lap.

"Yes please do tell us." Draco prods.

"Fine its greengrass, happy." Theodore gives up.

"Oh you two would be quite a good match." Draco says.

"I agree she matches your 'I'm better than everyone' attitude." Blaise agrees.

"Okay now that we are off of my personal life how about yours Blaise do you have your eye on any girl?" Theodore says shifting the focus once again off himself.

"I don't know." Blaise says. "Honest to sal no girls really caught my eye."

"Anyone else have any grand gestures of love to confess?" Cayden asks.

"No but Draco has his eye on a girl." Vincent says.

"I do not!" Draco defends.

"Oh mate you definitely like someone." Cayden says.
