When Taehyung and Jungkook finally came down all dressed up, they were met by Mi-Su who was sitting in the living room. And as soon as she saw them, she immediately stood up and made her way towards them.
"Tae, you finally came down. You must be hungry. Come with me. I will serve you lunch. You too, Jungkook." Mi-Su spoke, feeling relieved that her son had finally decided to show them his face.
"No need, Eomma. We are going out. So we will have something from outside." Taehyung replies, making Mi-Su take notice of their attire.
"You are going out? So soon? You just came yesterday after a long journey, Tae. Wouldn't it be better to stay at home and rest for a couple of days before going out? I am sure your friend here could also use some rest." Mi-Su spoke, earning a scoff from Taehyung.
"That's really rich coming from you, Eomma. You and the rest of my family didn't have any problem with dumping a fiancé on me as soon as I stepped foot inside this house. But now when I want to step out of this house for a moment of peace, suddenly you want me to rest? No thanks. I think I will pass." Mi-Su flinched at the way Taehyung was talking to her and she looked down, feeling ashamed. Taehyung didn't want to sound so rude, but he just couldn't help the bitterness in his voice.
"Tae, whatever we did was for your own good, son. We didn't know you would have such a strong reaction to the topic of marriage. I thought you would be happy to see Ji-ah after three years. That is why we invited the Kangs to our home. But if I had known this is how you would react, then I wouldn't have invited them so soon." Mi-Su sniffed, wiping the tears from her face, making Taehyung feel guilty for snapping at his Mom.
"I am sorry, Eomma. I didn't mean to snap at you. Please forgive me. And as for Ji-ah, I have decided to give her a chance. I would like to get to know her before I make any sort of decision. I will say Yes to this marriage only if I think that both me and Ji-ah are a good match and if I can see her as my future life partner. If not, my answer will be No. So don't get your hopes up. And I also do not want anyone to force me if my answer is No. I hope no one will have a problem with this decision." Taehyung informed, putting Mi-Su in a dilemma.
This marriage with the Kang's daughter was fixed all the way back to three years. And the whole point of inviting them home was to fix the date for their official engagement and the wedding simultaneously. Now how was she supposed to tell them that her son wants more time to get to know Ji-ah and even then there is no guarantee that he is going to say Yes to this wedding. Forget about the Kangs, Mi-Su was sure that her own family won't ever accept such conditions.
"Tae, please think about this again, son. The Kangs are here to fix yours and Ji-ah's wedding date. And you are here asking for more time. Do you have any idea how this would make us look in front of them? Your Halmoni has already given them her word, Tae. Atleast think about her before you make such decision." Mi-Su tried to reason with Taehyung, who was getting angrier by the minute.
"She should've thought of me before giving them her word. I never asked anyone to do that. It's not my fault that my own family couldn't be bothered to ask my opinion on something that concerns my whole life. My decision is final, Eomma. And no matter what anyone says, it won't change. If the Kangs accept my decision, then fine. If not, let's end this topic of marriage right here, right now. I do not wish to talk on this topic anymore. You can discuss what I said with the others and let me know everyone's decision when I am back. But I wouldn't be changing my mind on this. So, don't even try. Come on, Kookie. Let's go."
Taehyung didn't wait for his mother's reply and stormed out of the house with Jungkook in tow, who had been silently standing behind Taehyung all this time. He was proud of Taehyung for standing his ground. But at the same time, he was also worried for him. He had made this plan as a desperate resort to buy more time. But it will only work if Taehyung's family agrees to it. But If they resist and try to emotionally manipulate Taehyung into agreeing to what they want, then they would be left with no other option than coming clean about their relationship. Which was not at all a feasible option right now. And Jungkook could only hope that Mi-Su would somehow manage to convince the family.
