"Are you guys also thinking what I am thinking? That this looks like it's someone's fucking wedding than just a simple party? I mean look at the clothes that were provided to us. Doesn't it look too extravagant for just a regular party? And look at all the guests. It looks like they rounded up every single person of relevance from businessmen to politicians to celebrities. Hell, even the media is here. Why would they invite the media unless this party is really important or they have some important announcement to make?"
Jimin asked, making all his friends nod in agreement while Jungkook was starting to feel more and more uneasy. He had been feeling this way ever since he stepped foot inside the Mansion and saw all the glitz and glamor and the cameras pointed in every direction. And for reasons unknown, his heart was running a marathon inside his chest while his eyes searched for the only person who could make him feel at peace. But unfortunately for him, the said person was taking too long to come down and Jungkook had half a mind to go upstairs to their bedroom and see what was taking his boyfriend so long.
"You're right. I am feeling the same way too. I would've thought this was a press conference with the amount of media here if it wasn't for the presence of other guests. What I don't understand is what's with all the suspense? Even Tae and his Hyungs didn't know what this party is for. Why keep it a secret from your own family members?" Wooshik chimed in, making it harder for Jungkook to keep listening to their conversation without having an anxiety attack. He doesn't know why he is feeling so anxious in the first place. It was just a stupid party, for god sakes. Granted, a party with the media present. But still a party, nonetheless.
"Speaking of which, where is Tae? What's taking him so long?" Yoongi asked and Jungkook took this as a golden chance to get out of there.
"I will go and check him." Jungkook announced and immediately turned around to leave, but before he could even take a single step, he was stopped.
"Don't bother. He is here." Jackson spoke, gesturing his head towards the stairs and sure enough there was the man they all have been waiting for. Jungkook sighed in relief and a smile bloomed on his face as soon as he saw Taehyung coming down the stairs, but it soon turned into a frown when he noticed the expression on Taehyung's face. He looked angry and somewhat murderous, making Jungkook worry.
And it seemed like they weren't the only one's looking at Taehyung. Infact, he seemed to have attracted the attention of probably half the people there and Jungkook could see numerous flashes go off as Taehyung made his way downstairs, looking like a King. Mi-Su, on the other hand, was dreading this very moment. She had tried so many times to talk to her son in private before he came down. But DeiJi didn't let her leave her side for even a second. It was like she knew what Mi-Su was thinking and was deliberately keeping her away from her son. And now it was too late to warn her son because he was already here. And she could only hope that her worst fears won't come to fruition and her son won't end up hating them for life.
Taehyung, on the other hand, was completely oblivious to all the eyes on him. His mind was too far away and in too much turmoil to be mindful of his surroundings. But even with his hazy mind, his eyes had searched for his soulmate as if on reflex amongst all the crowd and the moment they locked eyes with each other, it was like time stood still and all the noise and chaos blend into the background and it was just the two of them in a sea of people. One's eyes held worry and concern while the other's held pain and determination. There was a war going on inside between Taehyung's mind and heart and for the first time in his life, he wanted to forfeit the game altogether and run away like a coward. But looking into the concerned eyes of his boyfriend, he knew he couldn't run away even if he wanted to.
His heart wanted to go to him, but his feet seemed to have a mind of its own which took him towards the bar section which was in the opposite direction of where Jungkook stood. And the moment he turned away from Jungkook, all warmth and gentleness disappeared from his face and it was once again replaced with a cold mask. He ordered the strongest drink they had and drowned it in one gulp, relishing in the burn and heat that spread through his entire body, but it did little to help with the pain he was feeling in his heart. The pain caused by the betrayal from his own family.
