The whole room fell into silence once Taehyung uttered those words. All of them wanted to hear Taehyung's explanation, except one. The moment Ji-ah heard Taehyung, she started to panic. Till now she had been playing the victim and gaining sympathy from everyone. But if Taehyung told them the truth, then it would all be over for her. Even though Taehyung had claimed Jungkook as his boyfriend in front of the whole world and put a ring on his finger, she still hadn't given up her hope. Because she knew Taehyung's family loved her and would continue to support her. But if they find out the truth, then there is no saying how long she would continue to have their support. Mina noticed the panic in her sister's eyes and she frowned, wondering why Ji-ah looked so anxious. Till now everything was going according to her expectations and she just hoped it won't all go downhill because of her sister's stupidity.
What are you trying to say, Tae? What truth? Say it clearly." Jin spoke, rubbing his forehead in frustration. He was so damn tired after the whole trip and the flight back home and then having to deal with a mob of reporters. And now this. He had always prided himself for being the most patient out of all of his siblings and family members. But right now, he was at the end of his limit and if someone didn't start speaking soon, he was sure he was going to lose the last shred of his patience and lash out.
Haven't you already done that in front of the whole country? Now, what's left there to speak?" Hajoon interrupted before Taehyung could speak.
"Oh, there is a lot to discuss Mr. Kim. Starting from what was the purpose behind this party? You threw such a lavish party and invited practically the whole country and the media. I am sure everyone here is curious to know the reason for it. So, why don't you enlighten everyone, Mr. Kim?" Taehyung mocked, making Hajoon angrier.
"Why are you talking like this, Tae? He is your father, Tae. Why are you calling him Mr. Kim?" This was exactly what Mi-Su had feared. Her son distancing himself from them because of their decision and the way Taehyung addressed his father, it was clear what she had feared has already come to pass.
"Father? You're right. He is my father. But does being my father entitle him to making decisions about my life and run my life how he sees fit? I am sorry, Mrs. Kim, but I am not a self sacrificing idiot. If you thought I would sacrifice my happiness and my life for the sake of filial piety, then you clearly don't know me. I believe love and respect should go both ways. But you lost my respect when you tried to deceive me and force my hand. So, please don't play this familial card with me. You didn't remember I was your son, your family when you tried to deceive me. So why should I?"
Mi-Su broke down sobbing and fell to the floor after listening to Taehyung's words. Both Jin and Namjoon ran towards her and held her from both sides and tried to console her even though they didn't know what the hell was going on. While Taehyung just stood clutching onto Jungkook's hand, refusing to look in his mother's direction. It hurt him to see his mother crying in front of him. And it took every ounce of his willpower to not go running to her and hug her tightly. Even Hajoon was trying to calm down his sobbing wife. Taehyung's friends felt like they were intruding on a very private matter. But it was too late to back out. They were there to support their friends and they were determined to see it through to the end.
Mina on the other hand was starting to get anxious. She had already guessed that Taehyung knew about their plan beforehand from the way he was talking. But she couldn't understand how he could've known. They had taken every single measure they could think of to prevent that from happening. Hell the only people who even knew about the plan was Taehyung's grandmother, his parents, Mina and Ji-ah. And she was sure none of them could have told Taehyung about it. She had suspected Mi-Su for a brief second. But then she let go of that idea after listening to the way Taehyung spoke to her. So if not Mi-Su, then who? She had expected them to get angry and throw their son out of the house. Not have a sit down conversation. She can't let that happen. She can't let them solve their issues and talk it out. Not until she manages to take advantage of their guilt and get that property in her Uncle's name.
