Poem 5: The Anxiety

199 12 4

For a moment, the heart halts...
Breath broken, air stiffens the chest,
Body, a statue, motionless and cold,
The grip of fear tightens its hold.

Numbness veils the ache,
Chest tight, teeth clenched,
Control elusive,
Manipulation usurps relief.

The mind, the nexus,
An anchor amidst turmoil,
A seesaw not chosen,
But dictated by individual toil.

The circumstance not chosen,
Yet the person chooses their stance,
Discomfort, fear, shame,
Spawn the singular sensation's dance.

Commonplace, yet forgotten,
Heard, but left unshared,
Coping transcends, offering solace to all,
Breaking down barriers, dismantling the wall.
