Poem 25: A life too short

68 7 3

You brought the joy and laughter,
The entertainment you mastered.
From the beginning, we knew
That we drank from the same brew.

You popped up like a jack-in-the-box,
Surprising me with jokes.
Highlights of events we spoke,
My dancing partner of the moment.

Through the difficult times,
I saw the struggle in your eyes.
I helped as much as I could,
The sadness behind the fan.

You disappeared afterwards,
One minute you were here, the next gone.
My heart was in pieces,
My friend gone in an instant,
The unpredictable was my worst nightmare.

I miss your exuberant nature,
The life you brought into mine.
I will never forget you,
My brother from the Motherland.
