Poem 50: Confidence

Pure confidence is a rarity in today's society. We are plagued by the need to adopt attitudes to gain favor and the immediate satisfaction of being handed a golden ticket to popularity.

The subject and center of attention, the envy of all who see them.
It is not easy to carry such a burden, as the price to pay is steep.

You become a stranger to yourself, consumed by your own image.
The hunger for validation becomes unbearable as the flood of likes begins to dwindle.

You issue a strike action, for what was once plentiful has now become scarce.
A great escape for a mental break, isolated, as most interactions are digitized.
The claim to confidence diminishes, for anxiety and depression become the new attraction.

This is what short-term confidence feels like. However, our potential as humans is limitless. We are complex and constantly evolving.
The person that existed in the past can always change the person of the future.

By building a skill set to reach a desirable goal, what was once a stranger can become a true companion that will never leave you. Never abandon you. Never forsake you.
