Napagdesisyunan namin nila Ryan, Cath, Irene, Karina, at Quinn na magkita sa Sabado para mag-makeover daw kami ni Ryan. I looked at my most casual clothes. A shirt and a pair of jeans. Ryan wore the same.
Umiling-iling si Quinn. "Magpalit muna kayo."
Kumunot ang noo ko. "What's wrong with our clothes?"
"Attorney, hindi kayo masyadong cute today. Sige na, indulge us!"
I sighed and handed them my credit card. Since my car and unit are provided by the firm, I barely have any expenses. With the recent increase in the VIPs, I may have saved up more money than I actually need. I don't splurge on anything. The last big purchase I had was when I upgraded my laptop, iPad, and phone.
Hinila kami ng mga ito sa isang boutique sa mall.
"Ate, pakitulungan hanapan itong dalawang ito ng cute na damit." Sabi ni Karina.
We were shoved into the fitting rooms and we tried on a lot of casual clothes. It was like a scene out of a makeover movie or something. I wanted to drag myself back to my unit when I tried on the fifth outfit. Ryan ended up with a white shirt, blue sports jacket, cropped khaki pants, and white loafers. I, on the other hand, ended up with an oversized white long-sleeve, a denim skirt that reached half my thigh, and ankle boots.
Napasipol si Irene. "Damn, Attorney Hera! Alam ko na noon na maganda ka talaga."
Humagikgik naman si Karina. "Okay! Now we're ready to go shopping!"
"Hindi pa ba ito shopping?"
Umiling-iling si Quinn. "Nagpalit lang tayo, Attorney. Magsisimula pa lang iyung shopping spree natin!"
I mentally sighed and slacked. This is going to be a long day.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I wore a plain black dress that hugged my body and it has a slit until my mid-thigh. It was paired with knee-high glittery boots. My hair was down in soft waves. They didn't leave my hair alone and decided I should get some red balayage colour for my hair. It looked better than I anticipated. It is dark enough that I am comfortable with it while at work and in a courtroom but noticeable enough from my previous plain dark brown hair. My hair is long and they just trimmed it a while ago. I was close to sleeping in the salon already until they dragged me to this waxing place. I think I feel numb everywhere after what felt like I was skinned alive. I shuddered at the memory. Why do women do this?
I don't even want to think of the clutter waiting for me here at my house. I just managed to fix half of the clothes, shoes, and bags we bought before I passed out of exhaustion. The gang was able to find me a date right after creating my dating profile.
It's why I am dressed right now and headed to a restaurant to meet him. After dropping my key off the valet, I headed inside and looked for my date. He was already sitting on the table with a glass filled with some brown liquid inside. This dude better not drive.
He is an attractive guy. Or what we consider conventionally attractive. He wore a knitted shirt under his dinner jacket. According to Cath, he is a thirty-eight-year-old doctor who has been single for three years now.
I gave him a curt smile and extended my hand. "I'm Hera Marquez."
He stood up and he was as tall as me. Instead of accepting my hand, he hugged me tight and I felt the air whoosh out of my body. Jeez, do you not know of personal space? I caught a whiff of his strong manly perfume. I thought doctors should smell like antiseptic. Why does he smell like he bathed in his manly perfume?
