CHAPTER 27

H E R A

I looked at myself in the mirror wearing a dark orange knitted top paired with a light peach dress this time. I removed the band holding my low pony tail and combed my hair to fix the tangled strands. I applied my nude lipstick and sprayed on my perfume. I am not sure if my scent affects him as much as his affects me. Glancing at my watch, it's already six o'clock in the evening so there aren't many people in the office now. Even our office is desserted already.

I went back to my office and retrieved my bag. I don't know how this evening will end. My nerves are shaking like my body is about to burst. I went to the elevator and pressed the twenty-fifth floor. I am not sure if Enteng is still in his office but if not, then maybe it is a sign that I should not push through with this. That maybe, even if all the logical cells in my body are screaming that I shouldn't even be considering Enteng Llamanzares, here I am walking up to his office.

While Ryan met a great girl from what I heard and they are on their fourth date this Friday, here I am with still zero prospects and zero successful dates. How pathetic. Good for him. Unfortunately for me, after having two more failed attempts at dating courtesy of Quinn and Karina, I finally made up my mind that dating isn't my forte. It may not be the men I go out with that's the problem. It's me. The moment I walk up to our table and meet the eyes of the man across the table, my wall seems double in height and triple in thickness. Something...that I don't feel with Enteng. Which is the only reson why I am here.

I hadn't been to his office so I took the opportunity to observe the red and white walls that adorned the space. There's a large logo of Continental Capitol Group on the wall behind what I assumed was Hilda's desk which was now empty. There's something in the logo that screams money if that makes sense. I've been to banks here but nothing else screams money, security, and formidability like Continental Capitol Group. Enteng's office light was still on based from th elight seeping through the door so he must still be inside. I breathed in and out before knocking. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine to be doing this.

"Come in," his deep voice said from the inside. Even his voice is making my legs tremble right now. I feel like I'm at a disadvantage in this setup but for what it's worth, here I am.

I walked in but his eyes were still on his desktop computer. I don't think he knew it was me who just came in. His office didn't have much. Just a large glass table, a reception area, and a small pantry on the side. There are two doors on the side that's probably the toilet and another room.

"It's after hours...Hera? What are you doing here?" His eyebrows furrowed at the sight of me.

"Did I disturb you?" I asked to buy myself time to calm down.

"I was just drafting an email that I was gonna send tomorrow morning. I'm free. Are you here to ask me on a burger date?" His cocky smile was back on his face despite the tension that I noticed when I came in. I wanted to ask if something was wrong but I didn't want to derail my purpose of coming here.

I straightened my back and kept my chin up as I went to his side instead of the front of his desk after dropping my bag on the couch. His eyes looked confused as he watched me.

I cleared my throat. "Does your proposal still stand?"

It took him a few seconds to understand the question I asked.

"My proposal? My proposal for you to date me and to get introduced to my father? Have you thought of what you want in exchange for, Hera?" He slowly stood up and stood a foot away from me. "Have you found something that I could help with, finally?"

Why does he have to look so ravishing in his dark grey suit that has the same shade as his eyes, his dress shirt that had two buttons open allowing me a glimpse of the tanned skin underneath, and his tousled hair as if he ran through the strands a couple of times.
