H E R A
The cafe was bustling as usual. There wasn't a day when the cafe had no one in it. Savannah said even in the wee hours of the night, people enjoyed the place. With Baguio's weather, there is a high chance that it will rain in the afternoon and not long after, a thick fog will follow. Like now.
Savannah secured a pod for us in the cafe, a privilege limited to the club's members. Sitting with her is Sachi as usual and an unfamiliar face beside her. Her platinum blonde hair had streaks of pastel pigments that I only associate with unicorns. Her radiant and beautiful face had that kind of smile that seemed to brighten the space she was in. Her stunning eyes had the lightest shade of brown I had ever seen.
"Look who strode in. You finally found the coloured section of the women's department I see." Sabi ni Savannah.
I disregarded her remark as I extended my hand to the new lady in the group. "I am Hera Marquez."
She reached out and shook my awaiting hand. "I'm Diosa Emmanuel."
My eyes darted to the bluish-purple pigment on her skin that she tried to hide with her jacket. I am familiar with that shade and pigment. I had those in my skin for four years.
"Nice to meet you. You're a member here," I said not pointing out what I saw even if our eyes met briefly confirming what I saw is what I think it is.
"Yes."
I looked at the women in front of me. Their expressions are unsure. Even I am unsure if the mood is good or bad.
Sachi cleared her throat. "She was fetching a new game from my husband for En- I mean for someone."
"You can tell her," Diosa said in a cheery tone as if she didn't nurse a fading bruise from God knows what.
"Well, I invited her because talking to both of you is like hitting two birds with one stone," Sachi said with a teasing smile. She looked relaxed and recharged from her Japan trip with Japeth it looks like.
I looked at her with questioning eyes. "I don't understand."
Sachi continued while stirring her drink with her spoon. "Kasi marami kaming gustong tanungin sa iyo tungkol kay Enteng. Si Diosa naman, well, napilit ko siyang sabihin kung para kanino iyung kinukuha niyang game sa asawa ko. I know someone in the club who's willing to buy videogames even if it's ten times the price. Si Enchong lang naman ang kumakatok sa pinto namin ng alas diyes ng gabi para maghanap ng laro at singilin ang asawa ko."
I glanced at Diosa who had a small but sweet smile on her face. "How could you like that guy?" I blurted out. Savannah swatted my arm. I know Enchong looked like a harmless person but I can feel that there's some truth to the rumors going around about him being a bosshole. Diosa and Enchong dating is like a rabbit and a wolf cuddling or something.
"I know. People don't like him particularly but he is a gentle soul."
Because karma is a fucking bitch, Savannah spluttered her coffee from her mouth with what Diosa said. "How can I ask you if you are blind without offending you?"
I looked at Diosa with a confused expression. "You see Hera, is it okay if I call you Hera?" I nodded. "I have colourblindness. Total colourblindness." She turned to Savannah. "Kulay lang ang nawala sa mga mata ko. I still see the goodness in people."
"Even Enteng says his twin is the evil incarnate," I said before sipping my second cup of cold brew.
"I think I have a crush on him," Diosa said while tucking her hair behind her ear. "So...you and Enchong's twin?"
