AFS - A Thwarted American Dream

I guess you heard about a person who attempts to be an exchange student?
No, I don't think so. You probably just heard him, but not his narratives.
The guy who has an ambition to travel across the foreign countries
United States was a dream, he wished to fulfill it, even if it's risky

Don't know if everyone knows this
But he tried his best, being devoted
To the papers, he wrote his answers
With his whole heart, he gave his best

He was a former junior high in a certain institution
He was driven by bullies, he wished he never met of
Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Program was the option
To prove that what he's capable of, not just a brat they know

First try, succeeded in regional, but not national
He vowed to himself that he will take another run
It took 3 years of him, trying to get into what he wants
In the second try of 10th grade failed, he cried a lot

On the 11th grade, he's done it again
He knows the drill, so he takes his last chance
But this time, he succeeded both regional and -
Being picked up in the national as the final run

And when he heard the news, he got too excited
His diligence pays off as he saw his name on the lists
He was over the moon that after three consecutive years of trying
He succeeded on getting into the national, as he always dreamed to be

The right things at a wrong time
He was barely 16, aging at fine wine
And when he told the news to his parents
They refused them to take the national

Long nights, a week before the preparation
He cried on begging for what he's devoted for
Notwithstanding, his parents insisted him not to go
And he burst out, with his rage, he slammed the door
Wondering where did all go wrong
He left no stone unturned
Instead, it amplified the antipathy
That left him no other choices
But to call them daredevils
Who fumbled the opportunity
To make their child progress

The saddest part of striving for the will of us
Was not being acknowledge by our loved ones
And that's what happens to 16 years old kid
Full of hope and perseverance to be the best
Still, being locked off by the daredevil
Until now, he wasn't given a freedom to be free
His locked in their cage of misery
Trying to endure the pain and suffering
That they felt in their entire existence

I guess you know now about a person who attempts -
To be an exchange student, I trip to go to United States
A long yearning of him to experience his American dream
Yet, being thwarted by the lost cause given by the daredevil
