Into the I-land

When Riki told me about how he joined the survival show „I-land" I was happy for him. I really was. I knew it meant that we wouldn't be able to see eachother for a while but... if that's what we have to go through in order for him to have a higher chance of debuting, I'm okay with it. And I know Riki will make it. He's the most talented person I've ever met and if someone deserves it it's him. He wasn't the only guy here joining I-land tho. Jay, Jake and some other friends of theirs also joined.

Though it will get a bit lonely while they're gone.
„It takes place in a cube like building I heard" Riki says fascinated „I think there's about 30 contestants, and only 10 or something can debut" he explains. We were sitting outside the convenience store near hybe ent. I was eating my sandwich ice cream while he drank some boba. It was near the end of June. It's already pretty dark outside and since both of our schedule ended late today, right now is the only time we had.

„And your parents are really okay with it? I mean...you know how survival shows are, the evil editing, rivalry, basically everything you're doing is gonna be aired" I say sceptical. I didn't want it to sound like it's a bad idea to join. I just wanted him to know that it's really not all that.
„You make it sound like i shouldn't go" he stops drinking „Riki come on I didn't mea-" I try to explain „why would you say it huh? It's starting in 2 days. I can't back off now anyway" his voice started to sound harsh.
„I'm not telling you to back off I just" I didn't know what to say
„You're just pissed because when I'm gone, you're alone again like you used to be" he stands up. I was speechless.
After he realised what he said he just left without a word.

I actually tried hard not to cry in this moment. It was dark outside and Riki just left me sitting here on my own. This isn't like him. I've never seen him this mean. What's gotten into him?
