Chapter 21

DORIAN'S COTTAGE-DAY
[House is being surrounded by plants and dryad enters house. She gets trapped in circle.]
Dryad: You deceived me. [Dorian calls alaric.]
"She is beautiful." Said Audrey. Some agreed.
Dorian: Ric. I got one that talks.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-HALL/GROUNDS-DAY
[Alaric has a speech in front of students.]
Alaric: Given recent events, some students have expressed concern that I am not allowing you to have a say in the decisions that affect your future. And I agree. If you are expected to abide by this school's policies, it's only fair that you have a voice in how those rules are made. So, I am forming an honor council. One vampire, one witch and one werewolf, each elected by their peers. Along with our school counselor Emma, whose vote will represent the younger students.
"This is the best idea Alaric has ever had." Said Audrey.
Alaric: Now, I have to go off-campus. In the meantime, I expect you to make good decisions and to vote wisely. That's all. You're dismissed. [Students start chattering. Alaric leaves the building, Rafael follows.]
Rafael: Hi, Dr. Saltzman. Dr. Saltzman. Dr. Saltzman. Um, is there a decision coming about if Landon can stay here?
Alaric: We are running tests on him to figure out once and for all if he's supernatural.
Rafael: What if the results aren't clear?
Alaric: Well, then I have a decision to make.
Rafael: Well, can the honor council decide? Isn't that the point? You know, that we have, like, a say in stuff like this?
"He is truly good friend." Said Caroline.
Alaric: If it comes to that, and we determine he's not a danger, then yes.
Rafael: Thanks. You're not gonna regret this. [Rafael leaves and Alaric continues walking and sees MG.]
MG: Dr. Saltzman. Hey. Hi. Um, do you have a minute to talk about Kaleb?
Alaric: I'm late, MG.
MG: It's really important.
Alaric: seconds.
MG: Okay, thank you. 'Cause when I told Lizzie about how Kaleb was feeding on the girls at the high school, I didn't think that my big mouth would get him sent to vampire prison.
"It wasn't your fault." Said Caroline.
Alaric: Your big mouth had nothing to do with that. Kaleb's locked up because he needs to dry out. When young vampires feed on humans, they become a threat not only to innocent people, but themselves.
"And don't learn control, learn to repress themselves." Said Audrey disapprovingly. Vampires agreed with her, Even Stefan. He might not be the one for human blood, but if Audrey's theory is right then it's better if youth learns control from human blood.
MG: That's cool, but, um, I was wondering, maybe you could show him some leniency so that the-the vamps won't be so pissed at me?
Alaric: Trust me, the punishment fits the crime. Unless, of course, you think I'm wrong, in which case you can feel free to bring it up at the honor council meeting. I've got to go.
"I tried to bring it up, but we were always so busy with what was happening, we didn't have enough time to deal with such an important and big change." Said Audrey.
MG: O-Okay. Yeah. [Alaric opens car's door, but Hope closes it with magic.]
Hope: Are you kidding me?
Alaric: (Chcukling) Am I under assault today?
Hope: You get to interrogate a tree nymph, and I have to run Landon's and Me.
Alaric: First of all, it's a dryad, not a nymph. Second of all, I need a witch to run the testing spells.
"Isn't it adult's job? He should order that to one of the teachers. Student shouldn't be handling his job." Said Elijah. Caroline agreed with that.
"But i would still prefer if Hope and Audrey would stay away from those knife obsessed creatures." Said Hayley.
Hope: Get Emma to do it.
Alaric: She can supervise, but she's busy managing the school in my, I'm sure, unbearable absence. Plus, if Landon can convince you that he belongs, (chuckles) he can convince anybody.
Hope: You're enjoying this.
Alaric: I am.
Hope: Mm.
Alaric: I left you instructions in my office. Try not to kill him.
"I would kill Landon out of spite." Said Kol.
"Kol!" Said Davina.
"Yes, darling?" Smiled Kol innocently.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-JOSIE AND LIZZIE'S DORM-DAY
Lizzie: Josie, focus. [Lizzie looks into mirror and changes clothe's color to blue.]
Lizzie: None of this is working.
Josie: You know, you're not gonna lose the election over an outfit.
Lizzie: I'm not worried about losing the election. I'm worried about what I'm going to wear to my victory rally. The outfit makes the speech.
"Confident. I like it." Said Damon.
[Lizzie changes outfit's color in mirror to pink.]
Lizzie: How do I look?
"White looked better on her." Said Hope. Audrey agreed.
Josie: Maybe you should wear something that shows your fellow witches you're gonna take this seriously. It's a big responsibility.
"Josie is right." Said Caroline.
Lizzie: That is why I am perfect for the job. I'm a tastemaker. An influencer. People don't really know what they want until I tell them that they want it.
They need me.
"I swear i have said something like that few years ago." Said Caroline, slighly amused. Stefan chuckles.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-ALARIC'S OFFICE-DAY
[Hope is sitting in Alaric's office.]
Landon: What are you doing here?
Hope: Dr. Saltzman wanted me to administer your tests, starting with some weird mystical blood analysis.
Landon: No.
Hope: Excuse me?
Landon: No. These tests determine whether or not I get to stay at the school, right? There is no way I'm putting my future in your hands; you're biased.
"He has point." Said Marcel.
Hope: I'm not biased. Besides, neither of us has a choice. Believe me, this is not how I would choose to spend my day, either.
Landon: See? Biased.
Hope: Landon. Last thing that you told me was that you wanted to find answers about who or what you are. I want those answers, too. So let's just get through this.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-DAY
Penelope: Lizzie Saltzman only cares about Lizzie Saltzman. If your interests don't line up with hers, you're witch non grata. I personally believe that you deserve a better candidate.
Caroline glares at Penelope.
[Josie comes behind witches.]
Josie: So you're running for honor council just to spite her. [Penelope turns to her.]
Josie: That's low, Penelope, even for you.
Penelope: You used to like it when I went low.
Audrey and Kol snicker.
Josie: You know what I mean. You don't even like extracurricular activities, let alone anything that involves a moral compass.
Penelope: Oh, and your one-witch ethics committee is okay with double plagiarism? [Penelope takes Lizzie's poster, Josie is holding.]
Josie: It is not like "hope" was an option. Bow out now, or I will crush you.
"Go Josie!" Cheered Caroline.
Penelope: Oh, honey, you crush on me. And deep down, you know I'm right. Your sister's unfit for office.
DORIAN'S COTTAGE-DAY
Dorian: We figured out the pattern. The monsters come one at a time. I already had to kill a crazy wraith thing just to find one of you who could communicate about why you want this Knife so bad, so it's time to talk.
Dryad: Why would I talk to evil creatures who kill? [Alaric enters house.]
Alaric: Uh, anything yet?
Dorian: Just some light judgment.
"She is kinda right. I wouldn't trust someone who admitted a murder and called me a monster either." Said Davina.
Alaric: You're a dryad, right? Living spirit of a tree. Uh, it says here that, uh, dryads were gentle creatures who lived among humans. Well, we're not your enemy. We're just looking for answers.
Dryad: Humans are known to lie.
Alaric: So are monsters.
"She isn't a monster. You said it yourself she is gentle creature. She is spirit of a tree and she is kind." Said annoyed Audrey.
Dryad: There is a man I cherish named Oliver. If you bring him to me, I will believe that you are trustworthy, or what passes for it among your species. Only then will I answer your questions.
Dorian: Whoa, we're not negotiating, right, Ric?
Alaric: Uh... What should we tell this Oliver?
Dryad: Show him this ring. It belonged to him. He will come with you. I will give no further answers until he does.
Dorian: What if we don't take the deal?
Dryad: Trees are patient. Humans are not.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-GYM-DAY
[Punching bags are hanging from celling. Audrey is walking around, watching pack practice their punches.]
Audrey: (yells) Come on! I hit harder than that when i was in my mother's womb!
Everyone laughs.
Audrey: You are werewolves. Use your strength! [They start hitting harder.]
Audrey: Faster! (To one of them) Alex! What did i say about your posture?!
Alex: Sorry. [Alex corrects his stance.]
Rafael: Audrey! [Audrey sees Rafael came.]
Audrey: Rafael! I know you are new, but you can't just miss practices.
"He missed his first practice? Rude." Said Freya.
"I know, right?" Said Audrey.
Rafael: What are you even training for?
Audrey: We are training, because my pack won't be weak! Every supernatural needs to know how to fight. Being in supernatural world isn't as easy as it sounds and as an Alpha it's my duty to teach them how to fight and protect themselves, excpecially now that our school is being attacked. I am turning these bunch of pups into wolves!
Klaus smiles at her.
"You could be nicer about it." Said Hayley.
"Naah. Where is fun in that? And they work better when they are angry." Said Audrey.
Some of them: (offended) Hey! [Audrey ignores it.]
Audrey: Since it's your first. I'll let it slide, but you will be here and on time on every morning practice, got it?
Rafael: Yes. I just.. i just needed to talk to Dr. Saltzman. About Landon. And... i need a favour from you.
Jed: You've been in the pack for five minutes, and you want a favor from your alpha? [Audrey raises her hand to silence others.]
Klaus looks proud of how much control and respect Audrey has in her pack.
Audrey: What favour?
Rafael: You're obviously gonna be elected to the honor council. If it comes down to it, will you do what you can to keep Landon in?
Audrey: No.
"He should have expected that." Said Freya.
Rafael: But why? He--
Audrey: Because i don't trust him, therefore i don't want him near my sister or pack.
Rafael: He is my pack, too. You said pack helps each other, so i ask you to help me. [Audrey seems to be thinking.]
Audrey: I want to help Landon, because he is your family, which makes him ours, too. [Rafael looks relieved.]
"There is but coming." Said Marcel.
Audrey: But he is also a threat to my pack including my sister. I can't let him stay here.
Rafael: Landon isn't a threat!
Audrey: Maybe. Maybe not. But even if he is as harmless as you claim him to be, it's still bad idea for him to stay. If i let Landon stay, then he is mine and every supernaturals' responsiblity here. I don't want that kind of responsibility on me, because if any of us loses control, Landon will pay for it. When human enters supernatural world, it never ends good for them. [Rafael glares at her.]
"She is right about that." Agreed Caroline.
Audrey: Okay, Everyone. Break is over. Continue! [They continue practise, Rafael storms out.]
Jed: He needs to be taugh a lesson.
Audrey: If  Hope was in Landon's place, i would do the same. (Sighs) But you are right. If he keeps doing this, i'll have to take action.
