Chapter 33

SALVATORE SCHOOL-RAFAEL'S DORM-DAY
[Cassie and Rafael are sitting on a bed.]
Rafael: Cassie, I'm so sorry. Look, I know it doesn't mean much, but I am sorry for my part in the accident.
Cassie: It wasn't an accident, Raf. And you know it.
Werewolves look at Rafael sympathetically.
Rafael: Why would you say that?
Cassie: Earlier, I couldn't remember anything, but when I was in the shower, pieces started coming back. I have an excuse to not remember, what's yours?
Rafael: I do remember. It was... It was storming, and-and it was raining, and-and the road was slick.
Cassie: And?
Rafael: And I took the turn too fast. The one you're always yelling at me about.
Cassie: But that's not why I'm dead, Raf, and you know it.
"What does she mean?" Asked Stefan.
Rafael: Cassie, no. I love you. I would never hurt you.
Cassie: I know that. But if I'm gonna sit here in your fancy new school with that nice headmaster who cares about you and helps you be your best werewolf self, then you're gonna admit what you did.
Rafael: I didn't do anything.
Cassie: Why'd you take that turn too fast?
Rafael: I don't know.
Cassie: Yes, you do, Raf. Tell me.
Rafael: I didn't mean to.
Cassie: But you did. You blamed it on the storm, but think, think about what you did. Think about why.
Rafael: I don't know.
Cassie: Yes, you do, Raf, you're lying. You're lying... [Rafael turns platter over. He has his werewolf eyes out and looks very angry.]
Rafael: (growls) I don't know! [Rafael realises what he did and leaves in hurry.]
"I feel bad for him." Frowned Hayley
SALVATORE SCHOOL-ALARIC'S OFFICE-DAY
[Audrey is standing in the back of the room and looking through Alaric's books while Alaric is scolding Hope.]
Alaric: I mean, how could you be so reckless?
Hope: You weren't getting anywhere.
Alaric: And so you took it upon yourself? I have it under control, Hope.
Hope: Oh, really? Then you want to explain this? [Hope takes out one of Alaric's headen burbouns.]
Hope: Or this? [Hope takes out another bottle.]
Caroline gives Alaric disappointed look.
"Great. Your school headmaster isn't just a human and ex-hunter, but also an alcoholic." Said Klaus.
Hope: Or anything else that would explain your utter lack of progress?
Alaric: I am grieving, Hope. And maybe you should try that sometime instead of pushing everyone away. [Audrey looks up from book.]
"You are entering the dangerous territory." Warned Marcel.
Alaric: (laughs softly) Look, I am trying to protect you. That thing is a master manipulator. It resurrected my fiancée, It ressurected your father, it raised a cemetery of zombies and it brought back Rafael's dead girlfriend, so let's just talk about the ways in which it could torment you, starting with your dead mother, ending with your dead uncle, and how about all the ghosts of all the people that you killed in between, huh? I can't believe you'd do this.
"I will kill him!!!" Growled Klaus.
"How dares he?!" Said outraged Hayley. Mikaelsons look at Alaric furiously. Salvatores look shocked at Alaric's insensivity toward people. First Rafael, now this.
"It's like he is turning into Damon." Said Caroline.
[Audrey's eyes glow yellow and she shakes in anger.]
"If he doesn't stop talking Audrey might kill him." Warned Kol.
"Oh trust me, i was on verge of doing that." Said Audrey.
Hope: Don't do that. You don't like that I broke your rules as a headmaster? Fine, punish me. But don't you dare play disappointed dad, because you are not my father.
Audrey: (growling) I warned you, Alaric! [Alaric and Hope look at Audrey, seems like both of them have forgotten she being there. Audrey attacks Alaric. Alaric blocks the hit, but because Audrey is fighting with her full werewolf force his arm breaks.]
"Audrey!" Said Hayley.
"I did warn him. He should have listen to me." Said Audrey.
[Alaric howls out in pain and jumps out of Audrey's way. Audrey takes out two daggers and throws them at Alaric's arms and pinns him to the wall. Hope looks shocked by events.]
Hope: Audrey! [Audrey doesn't seem to hear her and goes toward Alaric. Hope jumps in front of Alaric and Audrey stops her movement when she sees Hope.]
Audrey: (growling) Get out!
Hope: No.
Alaric: Audrey, don't... [Audrey looks at Alaric with dark look. Alaric stops talking, realising it will make it worse.]
"Only smart decision i have seen him make." Said Davina.
Hope: Audrey! Please. Look at me! I know you are angry, i am, too. But violence isn't answer.
Audrey: No, it isn't. It is solution! [Audrey moves toward Alaric.]
"No, it isn't." Said Hayley, Marcel and Davina.
"Let's just agree it depends on the situation." Said Audrey.
Hope: Audrey, please... For me. Don't do it. [Audrey's gaze softens, then she look at Alaric and silence him, so he won't interrupt.]
Audrey: I warned you to not talk to my sister like that or use my family to emotionally manipulate her, but no... For once in my life i asked you for help and you just turned out a failure like always. I shouldn't be surprised. You are an alcoholic ex-hunter; Human who runs a supernatural school where they teach how to be human when you are a supernatural; The man who can't even keep any of his girlfriends alive.
"Audrey!" Said scandalized Caroline.
"If i can't kill him phsically, i'll do it other way. He should have listen to me and didn't talk to my sister like that. He knew how much it would hurt Hope to bring up her dead relatives or first kills, but he still did it. He had no right to do so or raise his voice. He should have really think before angering a werewolf. Excpecially if that werewolf also has witch temper, is the most powerful creature and has kill count." Said Audrey.
Audrey: You are failure in every possible way: As a boyfriend, as a headmaster, as a mentor and as a father... I want you to remember that. I want you to think of how much of a disappointment you are every night you try to go to sleep. I want you to remember that only reason you are still alive is my sister. And i want you to remember this is the last time i'm showing you mercy. This is really the final warning, Alaric. Talk to my sister and me with respect; Don't disrespect my parents' memory, i don't care about your personal experience and grudge with them, and DON'T MANIPULATE HOPE!!!! If you don't follow any of the demans again, i give you my word that even Hope won't be able to stop me- I will end you. You should know how seriously we, Mikaelsons, take giving a word. Don't forget that. [Audrey takes out her daggers. Alaric falls down.]
"When are you gonna stop using our last name to threaten people?" Said Hope.
"When it stops workins, so.. Never. Benefits of being born in villain family." Said Audrey.
[Hope runs to him and gives him her blood.]
Audrey: (scoffs) Hope, You are not the most gullible person on earth, but you'd better hope that person doesn't die.
"So true." Snorted Audrey.
SALVATORE SCHOOL- BALCONY-DAY
[Audrey is looking off in space. Rafael runs out and crys out loudly. Audrey looks at him worried.]
Audrey: Rafael?
"I'm surprised you left Hope." Said Freya.
"I needed fresh air. I asked Jed to look out for her and inform if she tries to go to Necromancer." Said Audrey.
"Get your lapdogs off of me and stop stalking!!!" Said angry Hope.
"If i did, you would go to Necromancer. I'm just trying to protect you." Said Audrey. Hope glares at her.
Rafael: It was my fault. I got pissed because I didn't medal. And then I thought my girlfriend was flirting with the guy that beat me. I got jealous and I picked a fight with her. And then all that-that anger stuff started building up. That stuff that I can't control, Audrey.
Werewolves look at Rafael empathetically.
Rafael: And then I started yelling at her. And then I took the turn too fast. And she's always telling me not to take the turn that fast. And Cassie was right. It wasn't the storm. It was me. I killed her. I killed her, Audrey. [Audrey hugs him.]
Audrey: Shhh... you didn't mean to...
Rafael: I did... i did...
Audrey: You took strong turn in anger, but you didn't want this to happen. It was a tragic accident. You didn't mean to. Shhh... You didn't want her to die. It was an accident. [Rafael cries in Audrey's arms. Audrey patts his back soothingly.]
"You are good at this." Said Elijah.
"Not my first time. Every wolf has their stories." Said Audrey.
"Does this mean you will accept him back in pack?" Asked Hayley.
"If i do, it'll be going against my own words. I can't do that. Unless he will do something that will make whole pack want him back." Said Audrey with twinkling eyes.
"Is it a spoiler?" Asked Kol.
"Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?" Smirked Audrey. People looked at Hope, who smirked and shrugged.
MYSTIC FALLS'S CEMETARY-DAY
[Kaleb and Mg are in the woods. Kaleb has human boy next to him.]
Kaleb: Okay, young grasshopper. It's called Snatch, Eat, Erase. All right? I read about it in Dr. Saltzman's books about those Salvatore dudes that used to live in our school.
"But MG didn't want to feed on humans." Said confused Hayley.
"He changed his mind. After seein strength difference between him and Kaleb and after seeing Necromancer, he realised he needed to get stronger and asked Kaleb for help." Explained Audrey.
MG: I-I feel bad.
Kaleb: Don't feel bad, brother. They're food, okay? It's like eating a burger. You feel bad about the cow?
MG: Sometimes.
"He is such a cinammon roll." Said amused Caroline.
[Kaleb looked away with hand on his face.]
"He looks so done." Chuckled Hope.
MG: Lizzie went through this vegan phase, and she... just got me thinking.
[Kaleb bites human boy and drinks blood.]
Kaleb: (chuckles) Delishes. Come on.
[Kaleb backs off and give human to MG. MG bites.]
Kaleb: Yeah. There you go. [MG drinks aggresivly.]
Kaleb: Oh! All right. Easy, killer. Okay.
Damon recognised look on Mg's face and looked at Stefan, then looked back at Mg.
"He is a ripper." Said Damon.
Kaleb: Slow down, buddy. That's enough.
[Kaleb starts getting worried.]
Kaleb: MG, dude's no that big, okay? That's enough. [Kaleb tries to get MG back off.]
Kaleb: MG, okay, calm down. [Kaleb pulls MG back.]
Kaleb: MG!
MG: Get back... [MG pushes Kaleb off. Suddenly MG is stabbed by vervain. When he falls we see Dorian was the one who stabbed him.]
Some look at MG worried.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-LIBRARY-DAY
Rafael: There you are. [Cassie turns around at Rafael's voice.]
Rafael: I've been looking everywhere for you. I was wandering.
Cassie: Snooping.
Rafael: Look, I remember. I remember everything.
SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUNDS-DAY
[Rafael and Cassie are sitting on a grass.]
Rafael: I'll never forgive myself for what I did to you.
Some look at Rafael with sadness and pity.
Cassie: I'm not trying to punish you. That's not why I called you out. I just wanted you to be honest with yourself about it.
Rafael: When I first got here to the school, uh, they told me that a lot of guys with my condition, they... have a lot of anger that eats at them. But I'm better now that I know what was causing it.
Cassie: Oh, yeah? Then what was causing it earlier today? I knew that you'd never hurt me, but that didn't mean you didn't scare me sometimes.
"It must be so hard on him." Said Hayley.
Cassie: My point is, you had a lot of work that you needed to do on yourself, and you still do, werewolf or not. [Cassie kisses Rafael's cheek.]
Cassie: I forgive you. Now leave me alone for a few minutes. [Cassie playfully pushes Rafael.]
Cassie: I want to stand in the sun. [Rafael stands up and leaves.]
SALVATORE SCHOOL-CORRIDOR -DAWN
[Hope sneaks to Cellar's door. Audrey is already standing there.]
Audrey: You took longer than i expected.
Hope: (sighs) We need his help, Audrey.
Audrey: I know and that's why i want us to talk to him again, but no entering his mind. I mean it, Hope. [Hope aceepts her defeat and nods.]
"It's why we are perfect team. You stop me from acting on anger, i stop you from acting with naivity." Said Audrey. Hope chuckles.
SALVATORE SCHOOL-CELLAR-DAWN
[Audrey and Hope enter the cellar again.]
Necromancer: Well, well, well, little Miakelsons are back. Did you change your mind? Where is your friend-- what's his name... Milton.
"Even the sight of him annoys me." Said Freya.
"Welcome to the club." Said Hope and Audrey.
Hope: We came here to talk.
Audrey: No subconscious entering. And this time we have lie detector with us. [Audrey takes out sphere.]
Audrey: How did you die?
Necromancer: Like i said i didn't remember. [Sphere glows blue.]
"But now he does." Said Elijah.
Hope: But you do know?
Necromancer: (smirks) Yes. [Sphere glows blue again.]
Audrey: How did it happen?
Necromancer: Why would i tell you?
Audrey: Because i'm already in a bad mood and i get my temper from my father, so if you really knew him, you should know better than to piss me off right now. [Necromancer doesn't lose the smirk.]
"Yeah, you did." Said Kol.
Necromancer: After you left, I returned to the scene of my death. I saw a shadow. I felt a searing pain. And when I looked down, there was a Knife in my heart and emptiness all around me.
"A knife?" Asked Hayley.
Audrey&Hope: A Knife?
Necromancer: The Knife. Interestingly enough, that which I seek is that which did me in. You've got to understand, to be killed by such a trifle of an object... I was curious as to its power, so I summoned the spirit of the man who forged the Knife in the first place.
[Hope and Audrey listen curiously, neither of them interrupting him.]
Everyone in cinema is listening just as curiously.
Necromancer: From this man, I heard the remarkable story of Malivore, created to wipe the scourge of the supernatural off the face of this Earth. Malivore consumed us, erased us. It was permanent death. And it was in Malivore that we were left to perish. Until recently, when the Knife started beckoning us to bring it home.
Hope: But why a Knife?
Necromancer: Decades ago, Malivore was contained. Three locks created to seal Malivore shut. The Knife is one of those locks. When all three locks return home, Malivore is free to open its jaws of death once again.
"What does that mean?" Asked Klaus.
Hope: What does that even mean?
Necromancer: Oh, my dear... let's just hope you're not still alive to find out.
Audrey: (suspiciously) Why? Why would he---
Hope: What?
Audrey: Why would he tell us all this so easily? Why would he share this unless.... [Audrey's eyes widen in shock. Necromancer cackles.]
"He is stalling." Realised Klaus, Elijah, Kol, Freya and Marcel together.
[Audrey starts pacing.]
Audrey: Of course! Of bloody course!How could i be so stupid?!
"Don't blame yourself. We couldn't guess either." Said Klaus. Audrey smiles at him.
Hope: What?
Audrey: He... He was stalling us. He is stalling us!! He made us run around like headless chickens! How could i not realise it?! [Hope looks shocked.]
Necromanceer: You are smarter than i thought, Audrey, but it's too late. [Audrey grabs Hope's shoulders. Both of them look panicked.]
Audrey: Hope, where is the knife? [Hope looks equally panicked.]
Hope: I- I don't know!!!
Necromancer: I wouldn't bother. You already failed. [Audrey and Hope turn around to leave the room.]
Necromancer: Did you know that there's a lot of Bennett witches buried in the local cemetery that excel in the art of mystical transportation? [Audrey and Hope freeze.]
"It's too late." Said Hayley.
FLASHBACK-SALVATORE SCHOOL-LIBRARY
[Cassie takes knife from shelves.]
FLASBACK-SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUNDS-DAY
[Cassie and Rafael are sitting on grass.]
Cassie: Now leave me alone for a few minutes. [Cassie playfully pushes Rafael.]
Cassie: I want to stand in the sun. [Rafael stands up and leaves. Cassie's eyes turn milky white.]
"Of course. We should have known he would do it." Said Caroline.
PRESENT-SALVATORE SCHOOL- CELLAR
Audrey: (quietly) It's too late.
Necromancer: I summoned a little help to ensure the Knife returned to Malivore quickly and without incident.
FLASHBACK- SALVATORE SCHOOL GROUNDS-DAY
[Cassie gives knife to Bennet witch, who does a spell in foreign languege and tranfers knife.]
"Is everything's gonna be okay?" Asked worried Hayley.
"Eventually." Answered Hope.
PRESENT-SALVATORE SCHOOL- CELLAR
Hope: Oh, my God.
Necromancer: (laughing) Come on, look on the bright side. You can get back to the daily grind of your young life. And in moments, when the Knife is returned to Malivore, I will be free to find peace. [Necromancer chuckles. Ground starts shaking and dust starts falling.]
Necromancer: The Knife is destroyed. One lock is released. And with it, so am I. [Necromancer raises in air and disappears.]
Everyone looks worried.
