Chapter 50

CAMP, MAPLE HOLLOWS-NIGHT
[Alaric is showing map to Emma and talking.]
Alaric: Clarke said the mummy got the urn here. Now, if it's like every other monster, its objective is to take the artifact to Malivore. Route cuts through the center of town and winds all the way to the interstate. As the crow flies, this is the straightest route. So it's gonna be coming this way, no questions.
Emma: Maybe we should just let him have the urn. Make this someone else's problem.
"It will be everyone's problem if Malivore gets urn." Said Stefan.
Alaric: And be responsible for two-thirds of the monster apocalypse?
Emma: (Chuckles) Damn accountability.
Alaric: Ugh, damn conscience.
Emma: Speaking of conscience, I need to go see if I can find Dorian.
Alaric: Yeah, of course. I'd go with you, but, uh...
Emma: No, your girls need you. Though after giving them a crash course in offensive magic, and a mummy running loose, you may need them more.
Alaric: Some spring break, huh?
Emma: (Laughs) Be safe, Ric. [Emma leaves and Kaleb approaches.]
Kaleb: All right. So let me run this back... Homie talks like he's protecting innocents, but his office actually sits on top of the portal to hell?
"Close enough." Said Audrey.
Alaric: Not hell, specifically. Hell adjacent. It's a tar pit of doom where monsters rot for all eternity.
"It's literally the description of hell." Said Freya.
Kaleb: Uh-huh. And if the urn gets to Malivore, wh-what happens? The Adjacent Apocalypse?
Alaric: Two of the three locks that keep Malivore sealed will be open, which will lead to the end of all supernatural beings.
Kaleb: Okay. So we can't let the mummy get the urn, we can't let Agent Clarke's phony hazmat dudes get the urn, and if we get the urn, then we're just bringing monsters back to the school with us?
Alaric: Yeah. It is kind of a lose-lose.
Kaleb: (Laughs) Well, y'all crazier than my family, minus the barbecue.
"If he thinks that's crazy, he should meet ours." Said Audrey. Mikaelsons laugh.
Kaleb: So who do I get to fight?
Alaric: Actually, I need you to compel all the locals to forget what they've seen.
Kaleb: You mean while everyone else is fighting an actual mummy, I'm stuck with a bunch of simpletons making them forget about bugs?
Alaric: I don't know who this TRIAD group is or what they intend to do with the urn, but we can't run the risk of letting them get their hands on it, so first, we need them to think that we're on their side.
Kaleb: So vamp powers are cool as long as it's for something boring.
"No. It's cool only when it's use to Alaric." Said Audrey.
Alaric: Look, there's one other thing I need you to do, and if we can pull this off, I guarantee you the last thing it's gonna be is boring.
MAPLE HOLLOW-STREET-NIGHT
[Lela, Jed, Mikaelson and Saltzman twins are walking on street. Alaric is leading them with crossbow.]
Audrey: I still think people without magic should have stayed behind.
Alaric: Adult...
Audrey: Shh.. i'm not talking about you. You can jump off the cliff if you want. I don't care.
Kol, Davina, Marcel and Klaus chuckle.
Lela: We already told you we are fighting.
Jed: Yeah. I wanna fight mummy. Much better than staying in tent. [Audrey sighs. They continue road in silence for few seconds.]
Lizzie: Some people find it helps to clear their conscience before heading into battle.
Hope: Not stopping you.
Josie: Now is not the time.
Lizzie: It's always time for truth. Last chance, Hope. If you didn't start that fire to keep us from going, then why were you so mean to me after? I'll tell you why, because you were guilty.
"She annoys me so much." Said Kol.
Alaric: Girls! Quiet back there, please.
Jed: They will lead mummy to us.
Hope: Seriously. I wasn't mean to you. You were mean to me.
Lizzie: Because you were telling people about my episode.
"What?!" Said Caroline and Hayley.
"She/I didn't." Defended Audrey and Hope.
Hope: Your what?
Lizzie: My episode. The one I had when our trip got cancelled. You told everyone that I was witch bipolar.
Hope: I would never do that.
Josie: Guys, seriously, what is the point of even talking...
Lizzie: Just drop the act. I had my first... occurrence, my mom took me away to get help, and you decided to use it against me.
"Hope would never do it." Frowned Hayley.
Lela: Guys.
Hope: I didn't even know. I swear, I would never do that.
Audrey: Oi! Idiots!
Hope: What?
Josie: There's a mummy on Main Street.[Mummy approaches growling.]
"I never thought i would ever see a Mummy." Said Freya.
"Trust me this is just begining." Said Audrey.
TENT-NIGHT
[Kaleb is compelling a man.]
Kaleb: You got this, okay? You're a fighter. And Monday morning, I want you to go in that office and demand a raise. Do not take no for an answer.
"He isn't just compelling, he's giving life advices, too." Laighed Audrey.
Kaleb: A-And make sure they don't try to stiff you for bonuses to make up for it, okay? 'Cause, you know, they do that. Lock that paper down, dawg. [Kaleb walks away and then turns back.]
Kaleb: (compells) Oh, oh, and you didn't see any hornets today.
"He forgot the most important part?!" Said Caroline. Audrey looks amused by it.
[Kaleb approaches lady.]
Kaleb: Hi, ma'am, excuse me. (Compells) You didn't see any hornets today. And... the perfume is not covering up the smoke, girl, okay?
"We need more Kaleb." Chuckled Davina.
Kaleb: Instead of trying to hide the problem, go home, throw out that last pack, and quit for real, all right? Today. I believe in you.
[Woman, who welcomed Salvatore school students, Alaric and Emma is talking to a man.]
Woman: I don't care if that bus drops you off miles from your house. Good luck. That is not our problem, sir. You have two feet for a reason. Use them.
"Rude." Said Freya.
[Man walks away. Kaleb approaches the woman.]
Kaleb: You know what a fall guy is?
Woman: You mean like a scapegoat?
Kaleb: You know what, let's not even get caught up in the wording, 'cause whatever you want to call it, you are a prime candidate. Follow my instructions exactly.
"He is gonna comepell her about urn?" Asked Klaus.
"How would you guess?" Asked Hope.
"That's what i would do." Said Klaus.
MAPLE HOLLOW-NIGHT
Lizzie: So, what, do we, like, rush it?
Alaric: It's seven feet tall. We hold our ground until it's close enough to attack.
Lizzie: Okay, Dad, get behind us.
Alaric: I can't do that.
Lizzie: Dad.
Alaric: I have to protect you, all of you.
"He does realise he's human, right?" Said Davina.
Audrey: Is he really this idiot or is he pretending?
Lela: I don't think he is acting.
Jed: So... idiot then.
Hope: No offense, Dr. Saltzman, but you and your crossbow are kind of manspread in front of four powerful witches and two wolves.
"Exactly" Said Kol.
Audrey: Wolves who will follow you.
Alaric: Okay, good point.
Jed: I'm not...
Audrey: It's an order! From your alpha. [Jed and Lela hesistate, but get out of way.]
"I don't think we have see you order Jed or Lela something." Said Hayley.
"I usually don't. They are my friends, so i prefer to not use my authority with them, but sometines it's just necessery." Said Audrey.
Lizzie: Okay, what can a mummy do to hurt us?
Audrey: I think we're about to find out. [Mummy lets out flies from his mouth.]
Josie: Hope. [Josie, Hope, Audrey and Lizzie hold hands.]
All: Bulla. [Magical barrier appears that protects them.]
"Good." Sighed out Hayley.
Alaric: Nice teamwork.
Lizzie: Should we rush it now?
Audrey: No.
Hope: Not yet. [Mummy gets closer to them.]
Lizzie: Now?
Hope&Audrey: No.
Lizzie: I really, really think that we should rush it.
Audrey: On three. One... Two... [Audrey starts caughing. Then Hope does, too.]
"What's happening?" Asked worried Klaus.
"Mummy, but as you can see we are fine." Said Audrey.
Lizzie: What's happening?
Jed: Audrey!
Lela: Hope! Audrey!
Lizzie: What's happening?
Lizzie: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. [Hope and Audrey caugh up bugs.]
Hayely and Klaus grab Audrey and Hope's hands.
Josie: Resistus maledi. Ignalusa. [Josie sents fire to Mummy and burns it.]
"Yeees!!!!" Cheered Caroline.
"That's my girl!" Cheered Stefan.
Lizzie: Worst. spring break. ever.
CAMP-MAPLE HOLLOW-NIGHT
Woman: (Over P.A.) Please form an orderly line and proceed to the buses. We will be departing in five minutes.
Clarke: I appreciate the cooperation, Dr. Saltzman. Hope we never have to see each other again. And I hope I never get assigned to look into your school. That'd be a real shame. [Alaric turns to look at Clarke, then walks away.]
"Was that a threat?!" Glared Caroline.
TENT-NIGHT
[Someone is putting urn in a plastic bag. There is a bug like thing that mummy had instead of heart. Man puts it in suitcase.]
"I have bad feeling about this." Said Hayley.
CAMP-OUTISDE TENT-NIGHT
Kaleb: So the mummy ain't actually dead?
Alaric: Well, if I'm right, the mummy's curse is bound by the scarab in its chest. Once the girls siphon the scarab, the curse will be lifted and the mummy will be dead.
"Makes sense." Said Freya.
Kaleb: Okay, and what if you're wrong?
Hope: He's never wrong. [Lizzie and Audrey rolls her eyes.]
"He is always wrong" Said Kol.
Audrey: He is wrong almost always. You are just too blind to see it.
Lela: So what now?
Alaric: Until we get the urn, we wait.
Jed: How long do we have to wait?
Lizzie: If I have to bug-hurl again, I swear to God, I will never talk to you again.
"How is that Hope's fault?" Asked Hayley.
"She blames Hope for everything. It doesn't matter if she did it or not." Glared Freya.
Hope: Okay, that one wasn't even remotely my fault.
Lizzie: Yeah, well, the beetle slime in my tonsils says otherwise.
Audrey: God! You cann't leave without playing victim, can you?  Poor Lizzie... her parents are alive... everyone is fussing over her... sun shines too bright... Poor Lizzie. Always the victim.
"Audrey is right. Lizzie needs to get herself together." Said Davina.
Alaric: Girls! Behave!
[In tent, Smoke starts coming from suitcase.]
"Mummy is coming back." Said Elijah.
"Yeah." Said Audrey.
Audrey: So it's okay when your daughter treats my sister like shit, but it's not okay for me to stand up for her?! I'm so done with you all! [Audrey gets up to leave.]
"Audrey is right. Alaric should stop just standing aside and do something." Said Hayley.
Jed: Where are you going?
Audrey: Away from Saltzmans or i might end up killing someone! [Audrey sents glare at Lizzie and starts to leave. Lela stands up to follow, but Hope holds her back.]
Hope: Don't. Trust me. She wants to be alone right now.
"Thanks." Said Audrey. Hope nods.
Jed: Hope's right. She will cool off and come back.
[In tent, Scarab falls out of suitcase.]
People look worried.
Josie: Why can't we just give the mummy the urn? Is opening the portal to Malivore really that bad?
Hope: Do any of the creatures that have been trapped in there seem happy and balanced to you?
Lizzie: I'm with Josie. Why don't we skip bug vomit round two and just go and get some pancakes or something?
"Because Malivore will cause apocalypse!" Said Davina.
TENT-NIGHT
[Wind starts picking up in tent. Bandages flie up and start wrapping around scarab. People run out of tent.]
"It's back." Said Klaus and looked at daughters worried.
CAMP-OUTISDE TENT-NIGHT
[Audrey hears chaos and sees people running out of tent. She runs toward Hope.]
Hayley smiles at that.
Alaric: Think of it like this. We'll be setting the mummy free from his prison.
Lizzie: Hmm. Poor mummy. [Audrey gets to them.]
Lizzie: (annoyed) Where not you leaving?
Audrey: People are running out of tent. I think Mummy is back. [Others notices people running out, too.]
Alaric: All right, look, we can keep having empathy hour or we can do what we came here to do. Here we go.
[Mummy roars. Clarke goes to Alaric.]
Clarke: What the hell is happening?
Alaric: I don't know; he should be dead.
Clarke: Well, clearly he isn't.
Alaric: Yeah, I can see that. [Mummy starts turning over boxes.]
Audrey: He's looking for the urn.
Alaric: What do we do?
Clarke: I don't know, give him the urn.
"Wait! No." Said Caroline.
[Clarke talks on transmitter.]
Clarke: Hey, can someone give this thing the urn?
Tech: (over radio) Can't. The urn's gone.
Klaus looks at Audrey questionably, Audrey nods.
Clarke: Wh... Who's been in there?
Tech: Only our guys.
Clarke: Do something.
Alaric: Kaleb?
Kaleb: Yep. [Kaleb vamp speeds to Mummy and grabs scarab.]
Kaleb: Nice bling. Don't mind if I do.
"Why is he waisting time in talking?!" Said Hayley.
[Kaleb rips scarab off and vamp speeds away.]
Kaleb: Lizzie. [Kaleb throws scarab to Lizzie. Lizzie catches it.]
Lizzie: Got it. [Mummy roars and goes toward them.]
Hope: Oh, crap. Hurry.
Audrey: Morator. [Mummy slows down.]
"Good spell." Said Freya.
"Yeah." Said Audrey.
Audrey: It will give us little time. [Mummy slowly opens his mouth.]
Lela: Hurry! Like Hurry hurry!
[Few bug come out from Mummie's mouth, but they are too slow. Before any of them can even reach, Josie and Lizzie siphon the scarab. Mummie gets in frozen state.]
"Yeeessss! They won!" Cheered Caroline.
Alaric: The curse is lifted. He's gone. Well, Agent Clarke, we do any more work for you guys, you're gonna have to put us on the payroll.
Damon snorts.
Clarke: Guess we'll be, uh, on our way out of here.
Alaric: Good night.
