Third person POV

The hanahaki diseases is where the victim of unrequited or the sided love begins to vomit or cough up petals and flowers of a flowery plant growing inside their lungs. Which will eventually grow large enough to render breathing impossible if left untreated, it ended when the beloved turning their feelings or when the victim dies. It can be cured through surgical removal but when removed, the victims romance feelings for the lover also disappear and any type of feelings would also be removed as well. Lucky enough the hanahaki diseases is quite rare to get and most people in Yokohama City never get it, which was a good thing.

Atsushi was the unlucky one though, atsushi heard all about this in book, when he was at the orphanage but it never sounded real so he never believed it until he got it himself. Atsushi was coughing up flower petals, it was quite painful, it felt like his lungs were being scratched up slowly but immediately atsushi knew who the person was, atsushi just knew, it was dazai. Atsushi also knew that dazai would never return his feelings, atsushi wanted to believe but he just couldn't. Atsushi didn't want to die either, he was starting to like his life so he didn't want to end it all so he decided to get the surgery because that was the only option left.

But first, atsushi needs to notify the president about this or at least someone. "The hanahaki diseases?" Fukuzawa said, atsushi just nodded as he looked down. "I'm decided to get the surgery.." Atsushi slowly said, fukuzawa felt bad for atsushi, no one deserves to have the hanahaki diseases. "...do you understand that you won't have any emotions, after this?" Fukuzawa softly asked, atsushi just nodded, atsushi understood everything but fukuzawa just wanted to make sure. "I'll be with you the whole time atsushi.." Fukuzawa said, atsushi just nodded, atsushi wasn't going to be alone when this happened and the other didn't know yet.

"Do you want the others to know?" Fukuzawa asked, atsushi just say nothing, he didn't know. "they're going to find out anyways..but I don't want them to know..until after the surgery is done.." Atsushi explained, fukuzawa just nodded. "I'll get in contact with the surgeon because yosano can't do the surgery, she's not trained to do that type of surgery." Fukuzawa explained, atsushi just nod and sighed, atsushi never imagine having this disease. Soon fukuzawa found a surgeon that will do the surgery so a date was set.

Atsushi was quite nervous he never had to get surgery because of his healing ability but his healing ability couldn't heal the hanahaki diseases. "It okays..atsushi.." Fukuzawa softly said, atsushi just looked down, it was easy to tell that atsushi was scared but at least atsushi wasn't alone. "It shouldn't take that long because you only had it for a few weeks so it shouldn't be that bad." The surgent said, both atsushi and fukuzawa just nodded and slowly atsushi was put to sleep. Fukuzawa just sighed, atsushi didn't deserve this at all.

The surgery went well and pretty fast because it wasn't that bad, which was a good thing. The doctor was just making sure everything else was alright. "Can you breath?" The doctor asked, atsushi just nodded, atsushi was breathing perfectly fine so that means everything went alright. "Look like...everything is all right, if anything else happens, immediately go to a doctor and just rest for a bit." The doctor explained and then they left, atsushi just stare at fukuzawa, atsushi was now emotionless and it was permanent. "Come on atsushi." Fukuzawa said, atsushi just say nothing, soon both Fukusawa and atsushi left the hospital and we're on the way back to the agency building.

The whole agency was notified about what happened and now they were waiting for them to arrive. Soon the door open, revealing fukuzawa and atsushi, immediately dazai got up. "Move!" Dazai said as he kicked kunikida out of the way, dazai just grab atsushi and look him dead in the eye. "Oh god.." Dazai said, atsushi was actually emotionless, it was weird and honestly kind of creepy. "Atsushi.." Kyouka said, atsushi just say nothing, it was weird to see atsushi without a smile. "The surgery went well.." Fukuzawa said, the agency member just stare at atsushi, they were happy that atsushi was alive but it was just so weird to see atsushi emotionless and he's going to be emotionless forever, there's no changing it so they're going to get used to it. "Who was the person?" Naomi slowly asked, everyone was wondering that as well. "It was dazai." Atsushi said, dazai was shocked, he couldn't believe it, the other just stay quiet.

"Atsushi..go home and rest." Fukuzawa suddenly said, atsushi just nodded as he leaves with kyouka because they live together. Dazai was shocked, his students was now emotionless it just felt weird, his students was also in love with him but dazai didn't like atsushi like that, dazai was now feeling guilty. there's nothing, they can do about it now. The agency member just has to accept the fact that now atsushi is emotionless.

Atsushi is alive and that all that really matters in the end.
