elijah sighed when he heard a knock at his door, drying his hair off with a towel "mum i told you not to close the door behind you, the locks are still faulty... i promised den i'd sort them" he called out as he opened the door. eli was starstruck, not sure if he was dreaming or not as she stood in front of him

"hey..."

"den"

"i can come back, if this is a bad time?"

"no, no don't be silly" he smiled, his heart skipping a beat

"haiden! we didn't know you were coming over" eve squealed, pulling the smaller girl for a hug

"no, neither did i" mumbled eli

"oh it's so nice to see you again" haiden smiled, holding eve tightly before letting her go.

eve joined the rest of eli's family in the back garden, ali and paul preparing some food while his siblings entertained bruno

"i assume you're here to get some more of your things?" he frowned slightly

"no... i'm uh.. here for you" she smiled

"you are?"

"i've missed you, eli"

"not as much as i've missed you den"

"would it be okay if i stayed or?... i could come back later if you're having family time"

eli laughed lightly, shaking his head as she urged for the girl to come inside "you are family, remember"

"yeah well i don't know how much they know elijah, i don't want to assume"

"they know everything... you should've heard my mam" he smiled softly "elijah bob, what have you done to my favourite girl... she was not happy" he mimicked ali, causing haiden to laugh a little

she stepped closer to him, her hand cupping his cheek gently as his breath picked up. he looked down at her with desperation in his eyes... and a little bit of fear. he wasn't entirely sure if she was going to slap him or not, he wouldn't put it past her

"you shaved..."

"yeah?"

"i was kind of looking forward to seeing the stubble... it's all rob talks about"

"i might grow it out again... for you"

"can't promise i'll keep my hands of you" she smirked softly, elijah clearing his throat as a blush hit his cheeks

"i assume by this conversation that the lovers tiff is over?" eve stood in the doorway, an eyebrow raised and a smile on her face to which eli groaned

"did mam never tell you not to sneak up on people eve, it's rude to spy"

that's one of the first things haiden ever said to eli, sat in the cafe, just the two of them...

haiden smiled softly, helping herself to a cup of orange juice as she sat on top the counter. she couldn't help but admire eli... even after everything that had happened between them, she wanted him more than ever before.
she sighed as he made his way outside to his family, and she was left alone inside. she tied her hair back and grabbed her cup before heading outside herself, only to be embraced in a hug by paul.

elijah and eve were sat off in the corner with bruno, whispering and acting very secretive... any time haiden got remotely close they'd stop talking and act as if nothing had happened

haiden just sat upon the little picnic bench... shed told eli one night when they were drunk talking how she'd always dreamed of her own picnic table, and a house wouldn't feel like a home until she had one... typical, the next day when she came home from the studio, there was in fact a picnic bench set up in their garden... exactly where she wanted it.

they'd all joined around the table, paul bringing over the many different foods that he'd prepared on their shitty little barbecue... ali had made a wonderful fruit salad that haiden couldn't wait to dive into.
she felt the bench dip next to her as eli sat down. he was slightly worried... the last he really saw of her around food, she had a breakdown. and although this break was his own fault, he was worried about her.

the group broke out in conversation between themselves, the sunlit afternoon spent with laughter and music.

haidens hand shook, she was so nervous as if she was on a first date... not like she'd known this man for the past year.
she reached over slightly and grabbed his hand under the table, interlocking their fingers.
out the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of elijah. he was smiling to himself, shaking his head to fix his hair... typical. as if on instinct, his thumb rubbed the back of her hand

while everyone was distracted, she leaned into eli's side and whispered "could i... spend the night, do you think?"

"yeah, course you can" he smiled and nodded enthusiastically "you'll have to give me time to clean up the spare room though"

"no, no... i want to stay in our room, with you"

"are you sure? if you're more comfortable in the spare-"

"eli"

"yeah den?"

"i'm comfortable with you"

they lay in bed that night, bruno asleep at their feet as the sound of their television echoed through their house. they interwined their legs, their faces only inches apart. elijah couldn't help but laugh to himself, haiden raising her eyebrow at him

"what?"

"nothing"

"no, what're you laughing at"

"you and your bedtime socks"

"you leave my bedtime socks alone!"

"i've missed them"

"yeah sure you have hewson"

she smiled softly, tracing her finger along his nose once again. eli hummed as he softened under her touch, his breath picking up out of nervousness

"eli?"

"yeah den?"

"take me back"

"are you kidding me? i should be on my knees begging you to take me back den... i was stupid for what i did, and i was even stupider for not telling you" he sighed, tears falling from his eyes every now and again "i love you haiden, more than i've loved anything in my life and i don't want to lose what we've got"

"if you want to get on your knees and beg, i wouldn't be opposed to it" she laughed "i forgive you, i just can't forget what you've done"

"i get that den, i absolutely do"

"but i've missed you, and i want us to go back to being us" she smiled

"can i kiss you, den?"

"i've been waiting for that since i got here, ypu soppy sod" she laughed, running her hands through his hair and bringing him in for a well overdue kiss. it's understandable when saying that their night didn't end innocently, and neither of them were clothed by the early hours of the morning
