"so have you two thought anymore about the wedding?" ali hummed, cooped up in the dining room as she wrapped christmas presents for the hewsons
"no... we haven't really spoken about it at all" haiden sighed, tucking her hair back "i think he might be having second thoughts"
"oh i wouldn't say that, i've never seen elijah so smitten with someone before" ali smiled
"i know... i don't like to think it, but whenever i bring it up he just shoots the idea down and mentions the fact i'll be gone in less than a month"
"that's unlike him, den"
"i know it is ali... i'm not trying to rush him! i get that weddings take time and money, and we're so busy with our music. i just wish he wouldn't complete erase the conversation" she sighed, nibbling the skin on her lip
"don't you worry your pretty little head about him, okay?" ali smiled, giving the young girl a reassuring side hug

"now i'm not sure if you'll actually like what we got you, so you have to promise you'll tell us" paul sighed, laughing as he held his wife close
"you didn't have to get me anything" haiden smiled softly, her heart warming at the sentiment
"oh just open it" ali laughed, haiden joining in as she tore into the wrapped box. opening it up, haiden pulled out a perfectly sized football shirt... hewson written along the back.
she'd never tell them she wasn't a fan of football, she only really engaged in it when elijah did and that was only to be a supportive partner
"i love it... thank you so much" she hummed
the hours were spent unwrapping whatever boxes contained whoever's name, ali bringing out an assortment of breakfast options for everyone to pick at. haiden hadn't spent a christmas surrounded by love in a good few years, she was lucky if she got a christmas meal... let alone gifts.
she'd treated elijah to a romantic getaway, just the two of them, for when her tour had ended. she'd included a few miscellaneous, music related gifts to just to make up for the quantity she was given. the family watched them in awe, the two in their own little world until elijah's voice popped the peace
"i uh" he mumbled, clearing his throat "i haven't got anything for you"
