haiden was surprised when she woke the next morning, not even remembering falling asleep... nevermind falling asleep in the arms of her beloved.

she traced his lips, her heart pounding in her chest with nerves. her trail of thoughts were quickly interrupted by a different pounding... a pounding against the front door, if anything this way eli would wake up without her by his side and hopefully forget everything that happened the night before

it was a moment of weakness for her.
she couldn't let her love sleep back in

she crept through the house, hesitantly answering the front door with shakily hands.
she looked up, the sight before her churning her stomach.

"dad? what're you doing here" she whispered

"just came to check in on you"

"no, no you didn't... you never have. why're you here, how did you even find this place..." she sighed, panic creeping back into her chest

"doesn't matter now, does it" he shrugged

"can you please just go" she whimpered, her lip wobbling in fear. her father scoffed, grabbing her by the arm

"oi, let her go will you mate"

"and who're you?"

"her husband, now would you mind taking your hands off my girl thanks?" eli scoffed, stepping in front of her

"eli dont" she whispered

"it's fine den, go back to our room yeah?" he smiled down at her. the small girl nodded, pressing a soft kiss to her back which she hoped would go unnoticed.
she hesitantly left eli alone with her father, making her way back into what was once their shared room

she hasn't really realised how much she had been holding in, until she settled back into eli's side of the bed. her head hit the back of the headboard, and the tears flowed.
she could breath, she couldn't stop the emotion. all she really wanted was elijah, and not as a friend but as so much more.

she overheard the front door close, the lock clicking behind it as elijah strode back to his room. he smiled at her, his eyes softening at the sight of her.
her gaze fell to his bruised and now bloody lip

"eli, what happened" she hummed, concern laced through her voice as her heart fell

"nothing den, nothing important"

"your lip"

"you should see the other guy" he laughed lightly, pushing his hair behind his ear.

she shook her head, grabbing his wrist as she pulled him into the bathroom. eli couldn't comprehend what was really happening, but he was skin to skin with his angel once again and he wasn't going to say anything to jeopardise that.

she patted his chest gently, pointing to the toilet seat "sit there"

"sorry?"

"did i stutter?"

"yes ma'am" he mumbled, taking a seat. he couldnt. help but snicker, him now perfectly at her height even while she stood

she rooted through the cupboard, eventually realising that they'd never thought to purchase a first aid kit. she settled on a wet flannel, standing between his legs as she pressed it to his swollen lip... a hiss leaving his mouth

he stared up at her, his thumb brushing against her bare thigh out of nervousness. he couldn't help but notice as she bit her lip through concentration
