"can i please do something to help ali, i feel so useless?" haiden sighed, slumping herself beside her future mother-in-law

"you really think i'm going to let you get your hands dirty at your own bridal get together" ali laughed

"you should"

"haiden, you're not helping"

"mam, if you don't let her help she's going to be insufferable all night" elijah mumbled, mouth full of sandwich

"unfortunately he's right" haiden smiled

"okay... only this once" ali laughed, giving haiden a side hug as she passed her an assortment of vegetables "how about you cut up those and make the salad eh?"

"i can do that" she smiled, looking through the cutlery drawer and grabbing a knife. she cut through the lettuce... placing the shredded pieces in the salad bowl as elijah massaged her shoulders from behind. she smiled, feeding elijah pieces of food as she continued cutting the onions and tomatoes.

"isn't there some rule about not seeing the bride?" rob hummed, cracking open a beer from the fridge

"that's before the actual ceremony you twat" elijah laughed, pulling away from haiden.

he watched as his fiancé and mother bonded, laughing over god knows what but it had something to do with his childhood... he loved the bond that the two of them had.

he was so grateful she'd made her way into his life... she'd changed him for the better. his life was somewhat dull before, sure the band was successful but eventually they'd stop making music as they grew old.. music was the only thing he had to live for.

not anymore.

he had his den. he finally had something, and someone to live for... someone who made his dark days bright, her smile lit up an entire room. he knew she was the one because every time she entered a room, all eyes were on her but haidens eyes were only ever on him.

"elijah? elijah, haiden's talking to you" his mum spoke as she tapped his cheek, snapping him out of his daydream

"sorry angel, you were saying?"

"i was saying that now we're both done with touring and shows for a while... we should look at actually setting a date"

"yeah?" he smiled, looking down at his love as he rubbed her shoulders once again

"yeah"

he pressed a kiss to her head, before grabbing his own drink and heading into the family back garden. he picked up a strawberry from the picnic table, taking a bite as he sat by the pool with bruno... typical he shared his food, puppy dog eyes were real.

"eli, can we have a chat?" Spencer smiled softly, a drink in hand as she sat beside him

"yeah, is everything alright? it's not about you and rob is it?"

"no! course not..."

"what is it spence?"

"i just wanted to say thank you"

eli furrowed his brows, sipping his drink as he looked at the blonde beside him "thank you for?..."

"for loving our haiden" she smiled, her leg bouncing "i'm not a soppy person but... haidens been through a lot for such a small person. i'm really happy she met you eli, and i'm really happy you guys are as steady as ever"
