Adam and Eve

18 2 5

You told Adam of what the apple did, but the serpent beguiled Eve

Feast on my flesh or cast my soul to the flames, I care not, but god,

If you know hurt, why do they preach of hope?
You sat with sinners, yet they speak of saints
Your book is steeped in blood, tarnished with tragedy,
And they paint the edges with gold, place it untouched on the pulpit so their voice rings with the authority of The Most High.

If I must burn to feel something let me burn for a moment, sleep for a millennium, and forget all of eternity

They hold my hands in prayer,
Clawed hands like manacles round my wrists,
and my bones shatter

"Set me free," I whisper
"Your will is yours," comes the reply.

You grant me choice but place me where there is no freedom, I cannot breathe.

You told Adam of what the apple did, but the serpent beguiled Eve.
