As soon as school let out, the guys and I quickly headed over to the hospital so we could visit Spencer.
We were about to head over to Spencer's hospital room when a nurse stopped us and said that Spencer needed rest, and that he could receive visitors tomorrow. So as we entered one of the elevators, Gerard started a group chat.
Gerard: You gotta be kidding me! We took a taxi to get here just to find out that we can't visit Spencer!
Zack: Ikr? What a wasted trip. *frown*
Vance: I wouldn't say it's a wasted trip. More like a turnaround trip. You know, when you go somewhere just to turn back aI round?
Vince: That's such a lame expression for this moment, older bro.
Then it was my turn to say something.
Jeremy: I don't think it's a wasted trip. Besides, there something that Vince, Vance, and I wanna talk to you guys about.
Just as Zack typed back, asking what I meant, the elevator was on the first floor, and people were going in and out of the elevator.
I quickly typed my answer to Zack's question as the five of us walked through the hospital towards the front double doors.
Jeremy: I mean there's something important that you can't repeat to anyone else, Zack.
By now, we were outside of the hospital and were waiting at a nearby bus stop. "So Jeremy, what is it that you were saying? About something important?" Zack asked.
Vince and Vance glanced at me with that just-say-that-you'll-tell-him-later look. "I'll tell you later, Zack. Let's just get home." I answered.
Later that evening, I sat at my desktop finsihing up on an English report when I received a message. After opening it up, it was Skype message from Zack.
He smirked and waved. "Wassup, man? I wanted to ask you what is was that you were saying while all of us were at the hospital."
I thought what happened yesterday with Zack and his hospital visit. "Before we get into that, how ya doing, man? You feeling better?"
Zack rubbed the back of his neck and answered "Yeah, I guess so. Maybe that aspirin medication worked, because I'm feeling better. But I noticed that I'm much stronger lately."
I was a little puzzled. "How so?" I replied. "Well, this evening when I was going to put some toothpaste on my toothbrush, I ended up squeezing it so hard that almost all of the toothpaste came out of the tube and into my bathroom sink. And earlier when I took out the trash, I accidentally threw it across the street and into Mr.Glenson's front yard."
I immediately thought of superhero TV shows and comics that I watched and read as a kid. The hero always had an interesting moment before they realized they had powers.
I decided that just would mention this later. "So anyway, man. I'll jump right jn to answering your question. But first, please put your headsets on."
"Okay then?" was a confused reply from Zack. After we both had our headsets on, I quickly sent over a copy of the information that the Acton brothers and I were able to get from Pentro Lab.
"Zack, you'll receive some files from me in a few seconds. I want you to keep your desktop muted and I also want you to open the video in VLC player. It has subtitles embedded into the video files."
Zack nodded as we both heard the ding sound from his desktop. He had received the files I sent over and was watching the video that was from Pentro Lab.
When he was finished, he looked a bit confused, yet creeped out. Is that real, or is it from some twisted movie?" Zack asked shakily.
I shook my head and said " No, Zack. It's very real. And the other file I just sent you has all the information that the Acton bros and I were able to get."
Zack read the files and leaned back in his swivel chair thoughtfully before he answered. "So with those mosquitoes stinging everybody at school, and with Gerard going to the hospital-"
I continued his sentence. "And with you and Spencer going to the hospital, the you and Gerard getting released from the hospital before Spencer does. Plus, with what you told me about your new strength, that can only mean one thing, Zack."
"I have superpowers." Zack and I sat there for a few minutes, taking in this new information. This was something that neither of us expected.
Zack reached over and grabbed a big bag of chips. As he started munching, I asked him a question. "Do you notice anything else about yourself, Zack?" A chip munching Zack stopped eating.
"Hmm. Well, yeah, now that you asked. I noticed that when I took my shoes off as I came in my room, I was floating for some reason. And fire was burning on my hands."
Interested, I told Zack to keep talking. "After I saw that my hands were on fire, I quickly floated over to my bathroom, turned the knob, and let the cool water douse out the fire. It was pretty cool, to be honest, Jeremy. Afterwards, I laid down to go to bed, and I heard my parents talking about work and groceries. So I have super hearing too."
After we talked for a few more minutes, Zack and I said our goodbyes and hit the hay. The guys would be surprised once they heard about Zack's new powers.
