The next morning at 7am, the sun crept over the trees and rooftops of the neighborhood. After I got dressed and headed downstairs, my phone vibrated. Apparently I had received a text message from Vince.
Vince: I wanna let you and Tekmen in on something I found out last night.
I texted him back.
Vance: Sure
I wasn't sure what Vince meant, but with all the stuff going on about the mosquitoes and Pentro lab, nothing seemed to surprise me all that much.
Before going to school, Vince, the guys and I stopped by the junkyard, which didn't have anything more than an old rusty car sitting under a tarp.
If you could call it a tarp because it had lots of holes in it. Anyway, Vince told us what occurred last night, and then showed us photos on his phone.
"And that's what happened. I jumped off of the roof and started flying. Then I ended up in the city and flew around the train station. Afterwards, I flew up to the top of a big business building and took a few selfies."
I was interested in this notion of Vince having superflight like the rest of us. "Why we fly around and practice then", Gerard suggested.
"Not a bad idea, but we can do that tonight so no one will see us," Jeremy noted.
After agreeing that we'd fly tonight, the guys and I headed for school. Lisa jogged over to Jeremy and held out a plastic bag from the mall.
Apparently, she bought something for him. As Tekmen and I joined Jeremy, it turned out that Lisa bought something for all of us.
T-shirts. They were orange with black sleeves, and they even had a smirking wolverine face on the shirt. It also had the words "Go Wolverines!" under the wolverine face.
Lisa smiled and asked us if we would put them on before football practice today. I nodded and told her we would.
She grinned thanked Jeremy as she started to hug him, but he quickly sidestepped to the right before he faced embarrassment. Again.
Good man. The last thing we need is to think about girls during a time like this. We need to stop Pentro lab. After all, we're the only teenagers on earth that have superpowers.
Anyway, we wen about the day with our classes and football practice. Once school let out, the guys and I headed home.
Later that evening, I texted Tekmen, and told them to meet us in the forest near the park. Hall an hour later, all of us were standing in the forest at night.
"Hey Vince, you gonna show that you can fly or what? I have an English essay to turn in by tomorrow", Zack grumbled.
"Dude, relax. I'll show you guys right now", Vince replied as he floated up into the air and started flying.
Vince then floated in the air, and began to fly around in different directions. Amazed at this new superpower that Vince had, the rest of us joined him.
Soon, we were flying around the city up in the sky. We decided go take a break from flying and landed in an alley.
We walked into the park and ordered some ramen noodles from a nearby ramen shop. "Who knew that flying around could give a guy such an appetite," Vince said with a causal smirk.
"Shh! Keep your voice down, Acton. You want someone to hear us?" Zack said in a hushed tone. Vince shrugged and nodded as he went back to wolfing down his noodles before we all kept walking in the park.
It was nice being in the park at night in the middle of the city. The lights from the buildings and restaurants surrounding the park gave off a nice, warm vibe.
After chilling out for a while, the guys and I went back into the alley and flew home. We had football practice tomorrow, and we needed to be ready for the first football game of the season was coming up in two weeks.
Once I was my bedroom after comepleting my homework, I watched some football videos. That way, I'd be at the top of my game tomorrow at football practice.
