Football tryouts (Jeremy)

As soon as the free period arrived, the guys and I ran through the hallways and onto the track surrounding the school football field.

After we asked Coach Stoker, he reluctantly let us try out for the team. So once we got changed into some pads and jerseys, the guys and I were on the field, ready for practice.

Fortunately, it was the first day of football practice as the new season was coming up. We started off with a PA Pass, which was a type of football play.

I started off as one of the practicing wide receivers, along with Gerard, and Zack who was the third wide receiver. Plus Steve Hubert, who was Mr.Hubert's son.

Vince was the first linebacker on the left, along with Vance, who was the second left linebacker. Two other guys were the right linebackers.

Finally, Spencer was the practice quarterback since Jacob Penson, the star quarterback, wasn't here. Of course, the guys and I already knew about what happened to him.

Anyway, once the the practice game started, me, Vance, Vince, and the other linebackers, along with the wide receivers all began to run down the football field as Spencer got ready to throw the ball.

One of the practicing opposing football players ran up to Spencer and jumped to tackle him, but Spencer literally threw him off his left arm as he threw the football.

As the football went flying through the air, I jumped and caught it as I continued to run down the field. Some of the other football players tried to tackle me and grab me, but I either shook them off, or pushed them out of the way.

Vance, Gerard, Vince, and Zack ran around me in a box shape with me in the middle. It was interesting, although I've never see any type of ball carrier protection in a football game like this before.

I was soon in the end zone, and I threw the ball down in victory. After practicing for a few more minutes, Coach Stoker called us over.

"Alright boys, you all did a good job. Wilson, I've never seen anything quite like today with your friends protecting you like that. Keep it up. As for the rest of you guys, keep doing what you're doing. Now hit the showers and get to class." Coach Stoker said as all of us got ready to hit the showers and change our clothes.

Before the guys and I went back to class, Coach Stoker asked us to come back to practice tomorrow. I told him that we'd be there.

Tomorrow would be interesting just like today because the guys and I can finally hit people on the field as hard as we can. Or as hard as we want. 

After heading to class, Vicky came up to me and said, "Good job with practice today, Jeremy. It was interesting watching you and the guys play football. I didn't know you had it in you."

With a smile, I thanked her and caught up to the guys. Just then, Lisa walked over to me and surprised me by giving me a hug in front of my friends. Without saying anything, Lisa happily skipped after Vicky.

I just stood there feeling weird. What. Just. Happened? I can't believe Lisa just hugged me out of the blue in front of my friends! Scratch that, in the hallway with other students watching! 

Quickly heating myself up using my green fire, I walked with the guys. Fortunately, neither of them said anything.

Gerard looked like he was going to say something, but I stopped him with a heated glare. Now wasn't the time to talk about girls or anything pathetic like getting hugged by a girl in the hallway.

We were going have a chat with our parents tonight to give us the green light to join the football team. And I wasn't letting a girl get in my way.
