For the first time, Amal has been looking over to the Hufflepuff table as if she were seeking someone.
Lana, her roommate was removing the tomatoes from her plate onto Amal's since she despised them.
Amal looked carefully, hoping he'd be sitting facing her way and not his back facing her.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she moved her eyes along the row of Hufflepuff students until she found the face she was seeking, and her eyes landed on his involuntarily.
So, consciously, they were looking st one another and Amal felt a hint of embarrassment went he gave her a small smile before she turned slowly over to Lana and spoke "What did you say?"
"Nothing?" she said making it sound like a question, Amal looked at her in disbelief before looking at her food and ate silently avoiding the urge to look up.
She ate the tomatoes Lana gracefully gave her and ate the rest of her food occasionally chatting with her roommate, although they weren't so close, they were in each other's presence a lot and both cared for one another.

Walking back to the Griffindor common room, the girls walks arms linked, their stomachs full and calm.
"Do you want to play cards before going to sleep?" Lana suggested glancing over at the girl beside her.
"Unless you want to lose again, sure" she smiled as she said the words and received a gasp from Lana who looked offended, even though she knew she lost the majority of the times when they played, especially at night, given the late hour and all the activity done earlier in the day.
"Someone's confident they'll win" she teased and shook her shoulders.
"My grandma must teach you how to play in order to beat me, Lana"
"Or you could teach me" she suggested and Amal shook her head in disapproval.
"I'd give you all my secrets without even knowing I'm doing so." Amal admitted with a small laugh.
So, over a few card games the girls talked, sat on the floor.
"I haven't asked you this, has Nelson been bothering you again?"
"It's been a week since he has spoken to me, a week ago a guy helped me in the hallway, it was nice of him" Amal said quietly as she stared at the cards displayed on the floor and then at the ones in her hands before smiling and placing one on top of the other and grabbing both with Lana leaning her head back as a result of a near victory of her opponent.
"Really? Do you know his name?"
"Theseus Scamander" when she said his name, Lana gasped.
"So that's why you've been peering over at the Hufflepuff table in the Greathall, I knew something was up".
"You sound so convinced, no I was just looking around" Amal tried to say.

"Looking around to find him" Lana corrected.
"What are you implying, Lana?" Amal said in a normal tone.
"That you fancy him?"

"I've met him once, Lana. Be serious, he was nice and again, I had never seen him before that day, only now have I been actually noticing him in class or in the greathall, it's nothing" Lana was almost convinced by her roommate's words but decided to shrug and smile.
"Well, all right. No body knows what fate has preserved for us, who knows maybe you'll cross paths again" Lana said with a smile, glancing at the cards on the ground before she moves her gaze up to the girl sat in front of her.
Amal chuckled and spoke "Can you lend me the last romance book you've read? Has it been influencing your mind with such words?"
"What? Do you not like my poet-like self?"
"I believe such words should be used in different circumstances-"
"Don't go against my word, Am. Trust me, fate will have you meeting over and over again" Lana said with such reassurance in her voice that Amal almost believed her.
"You're so convinced, are you sure you're not a seer? Tell me, will he ask me to marry him because he's looked into my eyes and fallen completely in love with me?" Amal said leaning forward with raised eyebrows. The other girl rolled her eyes and pushed Amal away with a bit of force.
Lana shrugged and sighed "I could try to make it come true-"
Amal interrupted her phrase before she could finish it by throwing the card, that was meant to be placed on the floor, at her face with no warning.

"Maybe I shall find you someone, since you're so romantic, perhaps someone from Slytherin? They seem to have a heart full of love and kindness" Lana understood whom Amal had been referring to and made a disgusting face.
"Oh no, not him are you kidding me? You could have chosen any other person like-"
"Like who?"
"Like Aaron Denver" Lana suggested and had Amal nodding.
"I suppose I must teach you to look at their personality before looking at the looks, he's got nice features and all but he's heartless, he's doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd give his heart to you and his life for you" Amal said changing her position lazily until she got onto her stomach with her feet up, covered by thick socks.
Lana changed her position as well and rested her head onto her hands, as they were sustained by her elbows.
"Can you lend me the last romance book you've read?" Lana asked.
"Listen, Lala, it's common sense, believe me and yes I will it's actually way better and realistic than what you have been reading, do me a favor, who has been recommending the books you now own?"
Lana made a strange face at the last question and shrugged "No one?"
"Should have figured" Amal muttered and received another hit in her face by one of Lana's cards, the girl didn't flinch, but shut her eyes close and when she heard the click of the card connecting with the floor, she fluttered her eyes open and looked down, she looked then at the card in her hand and smiled widely before slapping it onto the floor and showed Lana the face of victory.
Lana cried out, covering her face with her now free hands and a few moments passed before her face was visible to Amal's sight.
"I will never play this game with you, never" Lana said sitting back up.
Amal gave her a smile "You always say that and yet here you are, don't worry losing makes you stronger, habibte" Amal reassured Lana unable to suppress her smile of satisfaction that she won.
The girls prepared to go to bed and with a goodnight and a small conversation both fell asleep with a light heart that did not know what the future held for either.

Lana knew what she wanted to do after she graduated at Hogwarts, she always talked about it, she wished to be a healer and take care of people and take away their pain like it had never existed before.
Amal, was not so sure on the other hand, she had a list with few ideas.
But one of these were being an Aurora, but it was a job so great that yet it seemed so distant from her reach.

Amal had been right, she has never noticed Theseus in potion's class until now.
She walked in, Lana unfortunately had charms and did not share this class with Amal.
As she walked in the middle of desks she heard someone call out for her, she looked up and saw him waving at her to come sit down next to him, she gave him a smile before walking over to where he was sat.
She noticed he was smiling softly as she sat down, the professor not in class yet.
"Have we been sharing the same class since September?" she asked baffled and he seemed too.
He nodded and raised his eyebrows before answering "I guess, yes".
A moment of silence stretched between the two before Amal turned around to look at him before opening her mouth to speak "Nelson hasn't been bothering me anymore, thank you again so much, Theseus" she smiled knowing she could thank him everyday for she felt the need to pay him back.
"There's no need, Amal. It's not right, and what he had said to you before I interrupted, no one deserves that. And believe me when I say you speak beautifully, do not worry" he spoke and Amal felt warmth wrap itself around her heart when she heard his final words knowing she has never heard such a thing before, she curved her lips before her head turned away at the sound of the professor entering the classroom.
Everyone stood up and when he motioned them to sit down, they did.

Without anything else he told them to open page 231 and he stared explaining the potion and it's benefits and it's disadvantages to then go and explain how to brew it properly to avoid any minor damages, if not bigger.
Amal wrote what she could down onto the paper before folding it and placing it carefully into her bag before looking back up at the small demonstration the professor was doing, Theseus gave her small glances from the side as if she had something on her face, at least that was what Amal thought, not what Theseus thought.
And when the bell rang, the professor gave them the permission to pack up their bags and go not holding them in the class any longer than they should.
Amal grabbed all she had on the desk and threw them in the bag before she stood up, she waited a bit until Theseus finished putting everything he had in place, neatly and both walked out.
But before Amal could go the opposite way she was stopped by him, holding her by the shoulder.
He looked as if he were hesitating to say something but he eventually spoke anyways "I was wondering if you'd like to study potions together sometimes? Maybe after classes tomorrow at the library?" he asked and Amal thought he was nervous but that thought soon evaporated at the sight of him all composed, but she wasn't close enough to listen to his heart.
"I'd like that, see you then?"

"See you then" he whispered and walked in the other direction with a smile on his face, little did he know, she walked with a delicate smile on her face too.
