But summer, oh how much was it loved by Amal.
She only needed the sun to remind her of home, even if the heat was at times unbearable, but if she were given a chance to feel it again, she'd promise she'd bear it, as bothersome as it was.
But when she looked outside of her home, the beach was distant and the heat barely there, she then looked left to find Lana's house a few blocks away.
She breathed in the scent of wet grass and walked back inside her room.
She had left Lana's book on her sidetable, she rushed downstairs, careful to not slip until she reached the kitchen where her mother and grandmother were speaking.
The two looked up as Amal approached them to embrace them before preparing a cup of tea.
The girl rested her elbowed on the counter as she watched the water boil  while the two women at the back were still speaking and whispering.

She fetched a cup and added dried tea with a mixture of dried 'flowers' and added them to the boiling water, mixing it.
She poured it into her cup and walked upstairs.
Her summer was filled with days that either looked like this, with a cup of hot tea or a cup of coffee or she spent some time with Lana, who either came over or Amal went over to hers and spoke a little.
"I want to apply to be apart of the Quidditch team" Lana said, her eyes on the ceiling as the words came out of her mouth.
Amal, from a lying position went on her elbows and stared at her "Really?"
"Yes, I always wanted to" she said.
"What stopped you?" Amal questioned lying back down.
"I guess I was shy? I don't know, even a bit insecure, I really didn't have any experience nor do I have now but I want to do it, I really do" Lana said, hope and confidence filling her tone making Amal smile gently and opened her mouth to say what she thought "Well then, expect me to cheer for you at every match" Lana laughed and asked "Even if it's against Hufflepuff?"

"What about Hufflepuff?"

"Theseus Scamander, he's in the team" Lana answered with a smirk.
"Don't be ridiculous, even if it's against them".
"I wonder how he'd feel if he were to listen to you, isn't he supposed to be your best friend".
"You're my first one though, Lala. Now, have you bought a broom?"

"No," she muttered and then looked up at Amal who looked around the room "Shall we go visit Diagon Alley?"
"We shall" Amal smiled and hopped off the bed.

The girls were both in front of Amal's chimney, Raya stood before them with a pot in her hands containing a greenish powder.
"Are you both sure you don't want me to go with you?" Raya question her daughter and her friend who were more than happy to go on their own, so Amal shook her head "No, mama. All is well, we'll return home as soon as possible, and we're in Diagon Alley, nothing bad could happen" the girl reassured her mother, who then looked behind her back to see the six year old Zyra sat on the couch eating an ice cream cone.
Lana nodded and spoke "We promise we'll be back in just few hours, Mrs. Qamar" Raya looked at Lana and sighed as if it were a sigh of relief.
"Okay, okay, yalla go and be back soon" Raya said as she poured some Floo powder in each of their hands, so when thrown into the fire place and muttered where you wish to reach, it will create a passageway.
Amal went first, she closed her eyes and muttered 'Diagon Alley' as soon as the Floo powder his the chimney's floor.

After her, Lana did it.

Amal, with no fatigue, walked out of the darkened alley she found herself in, avoiding certain gazes. She was not sure of why it happened to her recently but she decided against questioning it and leaving it be as she knew there was no direct solution.
Amal kept her eyes down but her head high as she slowly began to distance herself from the alley until she reached the bright side of it.
She let out a breath she kept in, fearing that if she were to make any loud noises, something would happen.
She walked until she spotted Lana looking around.

"Why haven't I found you there?" she asked confused.
"Malfunction?" Amal said, coming out more like a question.
Lana didn't think of it for longer as she hooked her arm with Amal's and walked towards The Broom Shop.
But Amal stopped halfway there and tugged Lana's arm until she turned to face what Amal was facing.
"Do you remember?" Amal asked staring at Olivander's shop and recalling the first time she came in with her mother.
"Of course, I do. Imagine that there will be one day where we will come back in but maybe as mothers" Lana said and hugged Amal's arm.
"Why are we acting like we will be attending our last year at Hogwarts?" Amal interrupted abruptly and a laugh escaped her, she tried to cover her mouth but then Lana joined her and both just couldn't stop laughing as much as people were staring as they passed by.
"I don't really know" Lana said in between her laughter, so Amal spoke too "Why are we laughing? People are staring! Come on, let's go buy you a broom".
So both, glanced one last time at the shop before them and kept on walking just a bit before a bell rang at the top of their heads when they stepped into The Broom Shop.

Amal looked around to find so many brooms, cheap or expensive, good quality or very rusty looking.
She circled the shop many times, following Lana and realized the amount of times she had promised herself to avoid shopping important stuff with Lana given her indecisiveness, but she couldn't refuse, she won't.
"What do you think?" asked Lana standing in front of a broom that looked brand new.
Amal shrugged and tilted her head to her left side "I don't really know anything of brooms, Lala. Ask me about charms, I might know the answer" Lana elbowed her side with a chuckle and went to call the owner to help her out.
Lana then came back with the owner of the shop, he took his time while they walked around the shop. He talked about each broom Lana seemed interested in and the girl listened interested.
Amal crossed her arms following the two until finally Lana came to a decision.
"I'll have it wrapped up for you, dear" he said and disappeared behind the counter.

"Congratulations on your first and new broom!" Amal said and opened her arms and squeezed Lana until she heard the girl say "I cannot breathe".
"It's all right" Amal said and aqueezed her one last time before she broke away.
Afterwards, the girls went back home immediately.
So, as they walked down the streets of Diagon Alley, they spoke instead of being silent.
"In a month we'll be back at Hogwarts" Lana stated.
"I know, fourth year" Amal replied.
"We still have four years with the one that will come, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh" Lana counted on her fingers.
"That's plenty of time" Amal looked up at the sky before back to the streets.

"I forgot to tell you something" Lana said.
"Go ahead".
"Jason sent me a letter-"
"Merlin's beard, when's the first date?" Amal asked smiling.
"Oh stop it, he asked me how I was and he said he couldn't wait to see me!" Lana giggled at the end but then turned around to face Amal who was smiling "But he didn't tell me how he got my address".
"Oh, really?" Amal raised her eyebrows, fully knowing why.
"Really, do you know how?"
"Absolutely no".
