1927

The cold returned with the end of a war.
Gindelwald was defeated, if you wanted to use such a term such as defeat as many believed he would not come back and bring misery upon them for he had no one to lean on.
She had returned to New York for her friends wedding, Queenie with a man, Jacob, she had met during all the new occurrences.
During the war with Grindelwald, Amal got closer to the people that surrounded her, Newt, Tina, Queenie and met new ones, Jacob and Lally. But she had found herself getting closer and closer, her love growing for Theseus.
No matter what had happened, they had stayed close as if there was a string pulling them in, not matter the distances, as the string was willing to bend and stretch.
She had recalled the night out, where he had kissed her in the middle of a crowded Jazz Club. How he had managed to heal her of the scars that had marked her body, the ones that once were repulsive to her sight.
And she had learnt to know that he had loved her the way she was herself.

Both got ready in the hotel room they were staying at until they got back to London the next day, she felt this sentiment of happiness that filled her as she grew conscious about the fact that all of the unpleasant days were over, for her and to those she loved.
The days of shadow and of cold would melt away.

She felt a warm hand on her exposed shoulder, she leaned into the touch and turned around, his hand not leaving her skin as she pressed her hand on top of his.
No matter how many times she had found herself in the position of being so close to him, her heart always beat rapidly, as if there was a race it could never win.
He looked at her and ran his free hand along her long brown hair and tucked a strand behind her ear, revealing the golden earring she wore.
He analized her face, for it looked breathtaking, but it always managed to make him feel alive as well.
He leaned in and pressed himself closer to her body, so nothing was able to separate any part of their bodies.
"You're beautiful" he said, and when he said words like that Amal recognized the honesty that was never hidden in his words.

She looked away shyly, like a teen, and he brought his hand up, placing his finger on her chin that led her to look back at him, she chuckled breathily and pushed any sense of shyness away at that moment and spoke gently "You don't look so bad yourself, Theseus".
He grinned, and his smile made his features look delicate and kind.

When he leaned in, he pressed his lips  on hers until both were left breathless of that kiss, they broke apart and as soon as Amal identified the red lipstick stain on his mouth she erupted in laughter, her chest shaking as he just smiled in confusion as he asked why she were laughing, she did not say anything as she pointed to his mouth.
He pressed his hands on his lips and saw the red colour on his fingers, and kissed her once again.

She was his gentleness and he was her laughter.
Despite all they have been through.

She broke away from the kiss and looked at him straight in the eye "We have to get going, I'm not being late to
Queenie's wedding, come on, Theseus".
She grabbed him by his elbow and dragged him out of their hotel room.
She wore heels and a black coat that covered her dress.
She hung her hand on his elbow as both walked down the snowy streets of New York, a city she was so familiar with and yet it felt foreign to her to be in, to walk on.

From afar, both could see two figures. Newt and Tina stood before one another, neither of them seemed to be speaking, but both of them seemed to have many things to say to one another, and yet none of them spoke.
The two approached them and greeted them with a smile.
"Tina" Amal said and wrapped her arms around her friend and then did the same with Newt.
"It's so good to see you two" said Tine looking back and froth from Amal to Theseus.
And from behind, the four heard another voice that belonged to Lally.
Lally approached and gave hugs to Tina and Amal.
Lally got a hold of Tina and Amal's arms and began to drag both inside as the brothers spoke.
"Stealing her away?" asked Theseus and chuckled as he saw Amal shrug.

Afterwards, Theseus walked inside, warmth greeting him as he approached the others, everyone could hear Jacob as he began to search for the ring calmly, at first.
Queenie came into view and greeting them all but stopped in her tracks and looked at Thesesu "Oh dear, oh don't be worried, good luck" she said with no further explanation and walked outside Jacob's bakery, asking Newt if he had the ring or not.
Amal turned to face Theseus who looked overwhelmed "Is all all right, Theseus?"
"Of course, Am."
"Are you sure?"
"I promise, love".

"Have a good night!" Theseus told everyone after the wedding and walked outside the bakery along with Amal. The night was still dark, snow coated the ground and nothing fell from above.
It was quiet as both walked slowly and silently to their hotel, with no worry in the world.
But Theseus seemed to have a lot on his mind all of a sudden and Amal sensed it.
She looked at him as if he were hesitating to do or say anything as she stopped in her tracks and asked him "Theseus, are you certain all is well?"
"Yeah, maybe" he said and he covered his face with his hands and place them both in his pockets.
She pressed her hands on his chest and walked closer to him, kissing his cheek.
He looked at her as she didn't ask any more question and was ready to continue their walk when he immediately took one hand out of his pocket and grasped her hands before she could move away.
"I love you, Amal. And I always have and always will, until my last breath and afterwards. Amal, I have loved you for years and I regret not having done anything back then, and I have promised you that I would make up for all the time wasted and I am.
I knew I had the certainty of falling in love with you when I smelt your scent in that potion, I knew I fully loved you when my heart felt completely incomplete without your name next to it.
You are the only one whom I have laid eyes on and have felt the feeling of intense warmth in me, Amal Qamar.
You are the only one whom when I am near with, my heart skips beats.
I have talked with your father a week ago and have asked for you hand. Amal Qamar, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
His voice held love, and longing, and devotion. All reserved for her.
He took out a jewelry box from his pocket and opened it, his eyes on hers as she looked at the golden ring below.
She looked back up and covered her mouth and muffled a gasp.
She nodded, tears flowing as she brought her hands up to his face and cupped his cheeks, now tears forming in hid eyes, but he was too bothered by her beauty to control them.
"I love you, Theseus Scamander." she said and kissed him passionately and snow began to fall and the cold made them feel as if their tears had become ice.
He broke away and said "So, is that a yes?" he teased and she laughed and slapped his chest playfully and nodded.
"Without a second thought".

He has always found beauty in her, despite the differences.
She has always loved him, despite their blindness.
