It was quiet as the two sat inside of Cole's Edge, it's sleek design carving its way through Washington's humid air. Sam's eyes were everywhere yet no where at the same time. His thoughts raced through his mind as his knee seemed to bounce.
"What?" Colette asked as she glanced over at him. "What?" Sam asked surprised, almost forgetting she was there. "I can practically hear the gears turning in your head Sam. What."
"If you are a hashxatałítx taxí•lit or a peaceful spirit, what does that mean for us?" Sam asked. "What do you mean?" "From what I've heard from old Quil, they only come forward in times need, as in human extinction type need. If the has hxatałítx taxí•lit made its self known now, why? What's coming? They are supposed to be the peace keepers, so what does that mean for us?" Sam asked. "I don't know. I don't even know what it is. He never explained, said I wasn't ready." Cole said and Sam snorted. "That's rich." "Tell me about it." She said as she pulled off on the side of the road.
"What are you doing?" "Don't you remember your own rule Sam? No leach over the creek?" She smiled at him and he looked away, a grin of his own making its way onto his face. "Sometimes I forget. You don't smell the same to us. And with your faint thud of a heartbeat when your humanity peaks through, it makes us forget your-" "Dead?" "Yeah." Sam said, his voice somber.
"It's okay, sometimes I forget too." She told him and he just rose a brow. "It's a long story." She waved him off and he shook his head. "I'm gonna call a meeting. I would like you to attend."
"I can't-" She argued. "I'm sure that we can sneak you in." Sam told her. "I don't know what I am, or even what all this is. I don't know how I could contribute." Colette told him and Sam grinned. "Sometimes just presence alone can be enough."

"I really shouldn't be here." Cole said softly as Sam's truck pulled up outside of his and Emily's small home, his headlights alerting the occupants inside of their arrival. She could see the lights that shinned from with in, and the shadows that were made from within.
"The elders wouldn't have agreed if they didn't think something good would come from it." Sam told her. "I don't know these people Sam. I don't know their scents. I could-" "You won't. You know Harry and Billy. You know Sue and the three of us. Paul you know will keep an eye on you, and if you need to step out, you can." He reassured her as he too took him the moving silhouettes of people that moved about in his home.
"Why are you doing this?" Cole asked him and Sam's brows furrowed before he spoke. "I know what it's like to be alone. To be the first of your kind, with only stories to help guide you. I went through it alone. You don't have to." He told her softly as their eyes connected and it felt as if they connected. Like something in both of them had recognized each other.
Reaching over she gently placed her hand on his, feeling the almost scalding heat coming from him, she smiled delicately. "Thank you, Sam." She softly spoke, but before she could remove her hand, the heat, his heat, seemed to envelop her, much like the time in the hospital with Rosalie, it seemed to consume her as the same voice was heard, though it now sounded more like her own. "Let them in. Protect them. Protect them all."
Cole's eyes burned bright silver as Sam blinked, surprised by the action, before they returned to their natural gold. "What just happened?" Sam asked. "I'm not sure. I think it was reassurance." She told him, and though Sam eyes held a certain amount of curiosity, he asked no questions as he got out, going around to Cole's side, opening the door.
"Thanks." Cole mumbled, giving a tight smile as she exited the vehicle, her mind running rampant with excitement yet worry.
Emily had opened the door as the two had climbed the small step.
Taking her time, Emily's eyes took in Colette. Her almost glass skin, her golden eyes, her brunette hair that seemed to lay directly as she wanted. "Hi, I'm Cole." The Swan introduced herself. "Emily." The woman responded and Colette smiled as she looked to Sam. "Emily? You're Emily? His words don't do you justice." Cole told the woman, and just like that, the two were thick as thieves.
"Colette, you know Harry and Billy but you have yet to meet the other members of the council. This is Colette Swan or the hashxatałítx taxí•lit." Sam introduced and it seemed as if all eyes were on her. "Hi." She smiled slightly, though it came off as more of a grimace and Paul scoffed under his breath. "This is a waste of time." He muttered and she glared at him.
"Are you sure Samuel?" One of the elders asked. "Yes, I have seen her eyes for myself." "And?" "And they are silver, just like you described." Sam told one of the elders Cole didn't know, as Billy rolled up beside her.
"Do you know what you're capable of Colette?" He asked as he placed his hand on hers, trying not to shiver at the chill her skin gave off. "No." "Great things." Billy told her.
"I don't know what I'm doing." She told him. "He didn't either." "He?" "The first hashxatałítx taxí•lit our people ever found. Tomo Mahi. He was a shifter like us. Strong, wild, yet graceful. He fought with us, beside us, until one day when the cold man came, he was different.
His natural born dark eyes shown silver as he tried to keep the peace, but it didn't work. A great howl rang out as Tomo's spirit warrior had made its appearance, but with its enhancements. Silver hairs seemed to be sporadically placed and eyes that shinned like silver jewels pierced through the cold man's skin. Instead of peace, he made war, for when the cold man was killed, a woman came looking." Billy said as he glanced up, trying not to alert the others of the sight before him.
"What happened?" Cole asked.
"He along with our then chief, Taha Aki killed the cold woman, but it didn't come with out its consequences. Half of the tribe was killed along with Taha Aki's two sons, and his third wife. After the cold woman was killed, Tomo disappeared, no one knew where he went, but legend has it that he failed to keep the peace, so his spirit found a new host, to better fight, to better prepare for the next time something of this magnitude was to happen again, he would be ready."
"So what? My spirit used to be a part of your tribe?" Cole asked confused by the whole story. "It's a possibility. You are the first we have heard of the hashxatałítx taxí•lit in centuries. You just happen to be born and raised in Forks, turned in Forks? Is it a coincidence or is it fate?" Billy asked her.
"I don't think it's either." She told him. "Why?" He questioned. "The Cullens- before I was changed, I had this. The silver eyes, and they knew me. From the past, their past. I think it is reincarnation. I believe your story Billy, I do. But I don't know if I'm him." "I believe you're more him than you realize." Billy said as he looked into her eyes, her silver eyes.
Her silver eyes that started to shine as Billy started telling the story of Tomo Mahi.
