Still curled into Carlisle's chest, the woman just seemed to stare at nothing, her eyes going blank as she thought about the question that may make or break her new relationship with the doctor and his daughter.
Snapping back to reality, Cole felt a hand being placed on her shoulder gently. Following the hand back to its owner, she found Carlisle looking at her with worried eyes. "Cole, are you alright?" He asked soothingly as Rose sat criss cross applesauce on the floor at the man's feet. Her worried gaze was also felt by the hiccuping girl, but she was transfixed on the man who currently held her, comforted her.
"Carlisle?" She asked and he nodded, looking into her eyes, giving her his full attention. " If I tell you and Rosalie what happened you have to promise to never tell anyone." Cole said, vulnerability in her voice as she looked between the two blonds. "Of course." Rosalie said quickly, looking at Carlisle. Colette smiled slightly at her then looked at the doctor. "I would never tell a soul." He said and she breathed out relieved.
Glancing at her brother, he gave her an encouraging nod, and she started into her story.
"When I had graduated high school there was a guy named Adam White. He was not the most popular guy, but he was known for being a sweet guy with atrocious pick up lines.
I had moved to Seattle right out of high school, quickly realizing that he had followed but I didn't think much of it as most kids for Forks and other smaller towns moved to Seattle for work for better schooling. I found myself running into him from time to time as I was taking college courses for my English degree.
Around two years later Adam had asked me out and I had said yes, and we went out just to grab a bite to eat. Things progressed quickly and soon we were a couple, and before I knew it, we started living together.
He was my first real boyfriend that hadn't been a two or three month fling, and he was perfect. He was sweet, faithful, truthful, and honestly I thought he was the prince every fairy tale book speaks of. He was my Prince Charming, or at least I thought." Cole took a breath, glancing at the two blonds, then at Charlie, then took off once more.
⚠️*ABUSE*⚠️
"After a while of living together, he started raising his voice every once in a while. That lasted until I did anything wrong in his eyes and he would yell. The first few weeks I could take it until the night he yelled then slapped me in the face." Colette said, tears forming in her eyes.
A dark growl came from deep within Carlisle and Rosalie shot him a warning look. He calmed himself down and Cole continued, never noticing anything had happened, too caught up in reliving her memories.
"It would only be an occasional slap every once in a while until the night he came home extremely drunk. He beat me multiple times and I don't know why. I-I didn't e-even do anything." She stuttered as tears fell from her glassy eyes and her voice trembled, a far off look in her eyes. Carlisle tried as best as he could to calm her down, succeeding as she leaned into him further.
"After what seemed like hours he knew I couldn't defend myself any more and he took advantage of that. He touched me, forced himself on me! I tried so hard to get him to stop, to get him off of me. Any time I would scream he would hit me." Cole cried. Tears were now streaming down her face, as Carlisle tried to keep his composure and not turn absolutely feral at the thoughts running through his mind.
Rosalie moved next to Carlisle. Gently wrapping her arms around the woman, Carlisle helped to move Colette in between them both. Rosalie brought her into a hug, holding her as she cried. Carlisle wished she was back in his arms, missing her touch the instant that it left.
