It was a beautiful sunny Saturday morning in the town of Forks, but something was off. The somberness of the people that resided in the small town weighed down on everyone's shoulders as they heard the news that the escaped prisoner had a bullseye on the small town, and to be vigilant. Adam White was considered armed and dangerous.
Oh just how right they were.
Jasper walked around the Cullen house, his mind elsewhere. The emotions around him were tense and it seemed as though the television newscast had made everyone anxious. Emotion seemed to seep even from the townsfolk to him and he was starting to feel sick.
Everyone in Forks knew who Adam White was and what he had done to the Chiefs sister. Of course everyone in the small community would protect one of their own, but the fact that he had not even been spotted was what made people on edge, thinking one of them could be next.
If he could do the things he did to the woman he supposedly loved, who said he wouldn't kill someone to get to her.
Carlisle paced as he thought of a way to track him. Jasper and Emmett had set out to find a scent, but said he seemed to be invisible. They tracked his scent to the woods just outside of the woods, and that's where the scent went cold. They tried to find where he possibly would have gone up, but the boys knew the human couldn't have hopped trees like they do. It didn't make sense to them. He simply disappeared.
"Carlisle, you have to go to work today. You have the day off tomorrow, we can try to track him then." Esme said as she watched her brother pace in front of the living room. She was worried about him. Carlisle took things onto himself way too often, leading to him to become stressed.
"I'm sure Cole misses you. As far as I know she hasn't been told, but if the nurses and doctors have heard the same broadcast as we did last night, they will all be on edge." Esme tried and this got Carlisle's attention.
"If she finds out she will be beside herself. Scared out of her mind." He mumbled out as he quickly rushed up the stairs to grab his doctor's coat and briefcase.
Alice walked down the stairs, a haze-like state had taken over her eyes as she seemed to look around, but at nothing in particular. "Alice?" Esme asked, slightly frightened as she had never seen the girl like this. "Alice? Alice, what's wrong?" Jasper asked his wife but she stood in one spot, looking at a corner of the room, one that was quite plain.
All of a sudden Alice's eyes widened in fear as the emotion rolled off of her in waves, almost knocking Jasper to his knees. "Alice!" He yelled, attracting the rest of the family.
"What's happening to her?" Rosalie asked as she watched her sister stare at the corner. "He's back." Alice whispered terrified as she continued to stare, her body stiffening up as terror filled her. "Who? Who's back?" Jasper asked her gently. "Adam?" She asked a question that none of them understood, but also made all of them straighten up. "Where are you?" Carlisle asked as calmly as he could. "In the hospital." She said as her voice wavered. "Alice?" Carlisle asked but got no reaction.
A strike of fear went through him as he had an idea. "Colette?" He asked and Alice turned towards him, the haze-like state seemed to disappear as she looked around noticing everyone looking at her.
"What happened? Why are you all looking at me?" Alice freaked out, wondering how she got to the living room. "What the hell just happened?" Emmett asked, officially freaked out. Edward looked at his sister in slight fear.
"It wasn't a vision." Edward said as the family turned to him. "What?" "It's a memory." "Who's?" "Cole's. That's why Alice responded when you did her name. When I was watching Alice's mind, it wasn't like her normal visions. This was Alice viewing it from someone else's perspective. Her memories." Edward said.
