As the story concluded and the theories started to die down, Cole found herself back in a corner of the kitchen, looking at a few knickknacks and pictures that were displayed on a shelf.
Really focusing on one picture, she jumped as a voice pipped up next to her. "You're stronger than you let on." Emily told her. "Thank you." Cole told her, though she didn't know if it was supposed to be a compliment.
Emily shook her head slightly as if trying to rid herself of the negative words. "I mean, how are you dealing with it?" Emily asked, the question making Colette stop. "No one's ever asked me that before." "I would think about it. The better you handle it now, the faster you can get control of it." Emily told her. "When did you get so wise?" Cole asked and Emily's eyes glanced around the room. "It must be all the tribal meetings." Emily laughed and Cole joined her as she looked up to see Sam's eyes on them.
"He stares." Cole pointed out. "He's protective. He also talks about you a lot. Says he has this connection with you." Emily told the vampire, and though she wanted to hide it, Cole could hear the insecurity in her words. "Emily, that man could not be any more in love with you. Trust me. And I would say we have a bond, but nothing nearly as strong as the one you two share. I think I just found out why too. When was this picture taken?" Colette asked pointing to the picture that sat on the shelf, the one that had drawn her to the corner of the kitchen in the first place.
"Oh, that was in 2003. Sam had just turned a month or so before hand, in that picture we had just started dating." Emily told her. "Do you remember a date by any chance?" Cole asked, recognizing the boy, now known as a younger Sam.
"Uhh." Emily said as she grabbed the frame, freeing the photo from its latches. "2003, Apr-"
**Flashback**
Colette was currently staying with her brother for a short period of time, waiting for Adam to cool off from a fight they had from a couple of days ago before she ventured home again.
As she lay peacefully sleeping, a howl seemed to stir her awake, her eyes opening, instead of her vibrant blue, they were a striking silver. Quiet movements were made to make sure her brother would stay asleep, as she slipped a pair of old tennis shoes and grabbed a jacket.
Starting her car, no one was on the roads at the late hour, almost three in the morning. Her small car weaved its way through Washington's curvy blacktop roads until the sign for LaPush Reservation lit up in her head lights.
Getting out of her car, the moon light seemed to make the silver of her eyes almost gleam as another howl, almost a cry rang through the air as she followed the sound.
Soon enough she found it. A black wolf was alone, its eyes wild yet frightened as it saw her silver orbs through the darkness. Growling, the wolf bared its teeth at her, but she seemed not to be frightened as she quietly and carefully walked toward the wolf, her hands extended out in front of her. "Im not gonna hurt you." She said softly as the wolf seemed almost afraid of her as it seemed to counter her steps.
The creature had taken her scent, acknowledging she wasn't a threat, and slowly placed his head into her hand. "There you go." She whispered as she pet the wolf softly. "Calm yourself, and when you can, tell your elders." She told the wolf, leaving almost as quickly as she had come. By the time the wolf had realized what she said, she was gone, and he was back to human. Sam Uley. The first Quileute to shift in nearly a century.
As Colette got back to the house, she rubbed her eyes, the tiredness setting in as silver turned back to blue. Charlie sat awake at the kitchen table, his face full of worry.
"Do you know what time it is? It's the middle of April and you have on sleep shorts and a jacket. What's wrong with you, Lottie?" He chassis as she climbed the stairs wondering herself where she had been.
**Flashback over**
"Our connection." Cole muttered under her breath. "What?" "That's why it's different." Cole deduced as she locked eyes with Sam.
"I need to talk with you." Coke told him as she pulled him over to a corner. "Did you know? Our connection? Why it's different from the rest of the packs?"
"Because you were there." Sam said as she took over. "The night you shifted." "First shifted." He corrected. "I didn't put the pieces together until I saw your silver eyes for the first time. You were there for me through one of the hardest parts of my life. It formed a bond between us, even if we didn't realize it. My wolf responds to it, and with me being alpha, it makes the others as well. But, I do think Billy may have a point." Sam said and Cole raised her brows.
"About Tomo Mahi being a part of you. I think they are all reincarnations of each other. You told me to calm my self and tell the elders. Who else would know what I was or who to go to? You didn't know about the supernatural back then. Where does that leave us?" Sam asked her.
"With a lot of unanswered questions. Like the biggest one being, where did this thing originate from and how does it move? Or will it now that I've been turned?" Colette asked and Sam looked at her.
"I don't know. Our stories don't know either. That's gonna be something for your leach-" "Esme" Cole corrected him. "Esme to figure out. Find that out, then we may be able to find you some answers. Until then, you're just a vamp that's kinda human with cool eyes." Sam told her and Cole smirked at him. "Shut up." She said, rolling her eyes as she shoved him gently.
A/N: I hope this clears some things up. Sam and Cole are not imprints. I repeat SAM AND COLE ARE NOT IMPRINTS. They are just important to each other for different reasons.
