Carlisle made his rounds through the hospital, checking his girlfriend's room a few extra times, just in case.

It seemed strange for him to think the word, let alone say it, but every time it rolled off his tongue, his eyes would light up, joy filling every last morsel of his being.

Seeing the door closed peaked his interest, as the times before said door had been wide open. "Cole?" He asked, knocking gently as he opened the door.

"Colette?" He called again, as he saw the bed empty, his nerves started to fray. "I'm right here Carlisle." She said, her hand peeking up over the top of the changing screen that had been pulled around so she could change clothes with at least some privacy. "Do I want to know what your up to?" Carlisle asked, figuring he would regret asking.

"I have plans today." She told him stepping around the screen, pulling at the drawstrings of her athletic shorts, but they seemed to still want to fall right off of her ever shrinking waist.

"You look beautiful, and your pretty little head is full of wonderful ideas, but I'm afraid I will have to squash them if you think you're leaving the hospital."

"We are not having this discussion again. I only have five months left. I want to spend it with my family." Cole told him, her streak of defiance coming out.

"You know I adore when you stand up for yourself, but it's not happening. Please don't make me pull the doctor's orders card on you." He told her and she glared at him. "Carlisle!-""That isn't to say something couldn't be worked out within the walls of the hospital. You just need to be monitored. I am just looking out for you, we all want you around for as long as we can keep you." Carlisle told her, kissing the side of her head before heading back towards the door to continue his rounds.

"By the way, just so you know there is a dressing sign for the door. Anyone could have walked in and saw you." Carlisle joked and Cole smirked at him.

"Well I'm glad it was just you that decided to barge into my room without knocking. I don't think I have to worry about anyone else because they knock before hand Carlisle '' she chastised.

A small pout came to Carlisle's face and Cole chuckled. "Don't pout Carlisle. If you would have come in a few minutes earlier, you could have gotten a show."

If he could, Carlisle would be red from head to toe. "Your naughty." "Like it's my middle name." She smiled sweetly, but Carlisle saw the twinkle of mischief in her eyes, walking up to him and placing a kiss to his cheek.

Sighing softly in contentment, Colette laid her head on Carlisle's chest as they stood there, Carlisle gently placing an arm around her to hold her up. "What were your plans for my day out?" Cole asked him, her eyes looking up at him. "You'll have to wait and see."

Carlisle walked back to Cole's room about a half an hour later. With the help of Madison and nurse Leann, they had brought around one of the tables from the cafeteria, placing it into an empty room that had a nice outside view. The cold temps and Colette's constant need for oxygen complicated things, but Carlisle knew her enough. When it came to her niece, Cole would bend over backwards.

Before knocking on the door, his hand stuttered as he heard Bella tell Cole of all the adventures they were going to have once she beat this cancer. He didn't have the heart to tell the teen she wouldn't survive this, not in the normal sense anyway.

Knocking on the door, the conversation quieted and Carlisle stepped in. "Good morning Isabella." He greeted. "Dr. Cullen." "Please call me Carlisle." He told her and she smiled slightly, nodding her head.
