After taking a shower, I lay down on my bed, and the feeling of fatigue washed over me. I stared up at the ceiling where a few glowing star stickers were stuck to it; my eyes taking in the faint glow of them that illuminated the darkness of my room. I fixed my head's position on the pillow, closing my eyes as my thoughts wandered back to the past. I couldn't help but wonder whose room this was in the past. Did it belong to my father? Did he sleep here often?

My body still ached from the kicks I had received, and exhaustion had reached the point that I could no longer cry. I turned to my side and grabbed my phone, checking Liam's feed once again. I stared at the new guy's face, the one Liam was hugging from behind, with a lingering sadness in my heart as I did. I should've been in his arms if none of this had happened...

I felt a lump choking the back of my throat as I tried to bury the emotions building up inside of me. Tossing my phone to the side, I rolled over onto my back, letting the silence overwhelm me as I stared up at the ceiling once again.

I hate those fake stars! I thought to myself in irritation as I turned on my stomach and buried my face in the pillow, trying to drown out my own thoughts.

"You'll be my slave from now on." Parsa's voice resonated through my mind, filling me with dread as it echoed inside my head. "You're not allowed to date as long as you're mine..." The words continued to linger even after I pressed the sides of my pillow against my ears, the voice somehow still finding its way into my consciousness.

"Leave me alone!" I groaned out into the void, my feet kicking upward toward the ceiling in a fit of frustration. "I want to sleep," I added softly, trying to calm myself down, but it was no use since the chaos in my mind continued to spiral out of control. Other voices began to join in and fill my head, making it difficult to discern which thoughts were my own and which belonged to the others.

"Doctor, have you checked the result?" I could hear my mother's voice, coming from a faint distance away, as she was speaking to someone else. I slowly opened my eyes just enough to peer around my surroundings and noticed an unfamiliar room, along with a man wearing a white gown, as well as an IV drip on the back of my left hand. My head started to ring as I slowly tried to sit up. My vision blurred from sleep and confusion, I asked. "Mom, what's going on?"

She rushed towards me, her eyes welling up with tears. "Ryan..." she exclaimed, her voice catching in her throat as she spoke. "You were burning with a fever when I tried to wake you up yesterday morning!"

My eyes widened in shock, my voice rising in a tone of disbelief. "Yesterday morning?" I asked. Panic began to overtake me as I realized how much time I had seemingly lost. "What about school?" I exclaimed, and my voice began to get shaky. "I had an exam!..."

"It's alright, your father informed them that you're sick..." She patted my head. "You scared me to death, though."

I let out a sigh. "I'm sorry..."

The doctor approached us and stood next to my bed, his face betraying a soft expression, as he asked me how I was feeling.

I looked up at him and muttered, trying to collect my thoughts, "I'm...I think I feel better..."

He smiled at my response, shifting his gaze towards my mom. "Can we talk outside?" He asked.

My mom nodded, her own concern clear on her face as she stepped out of the room with him, leaving me alone behind.

I flopped back down as I let out a long huff, wondering how I ended up here without noticing a thing. At least I slept well after a while...

As I smiled bittersweetly, my phone began to buzz, vibrating and lighting up my screen. I stretched my hand to grab it from the table next to my bed, noticing Parsa's name glowing on the screen. My fingers slid over the green button before putting the phone to my ear, still keeping silent.
