"The more I know," his tone shifted into a more menacing one. His smirk grew wider. "The more power I get over you."
I knew it!...
I let out a sigh as I took off my shoes and stepped inside. It wasn't like I could stop him.
Parsa then walked past me after he took off his own shoes and greeted my mom right away. My mom looked at him as she was confused by the unexpected guest. She glanced at me; her eyes were asking me who he was without using actual words. I walked towards them and stood next to Parsa. "He's my classmate whom I went over to his place."
She nodded her head in response and led him to the living room on the first floor. "Please take a seat here."
Parsa had stretched his long legs out in front of him, blocking my way with his huge body.
The smirk on his face was starting to irk me, but I pushed myself to roll my eyes as I took a turn around the coffee table and sat down next to him.
He glanced around the room and said with a hint of surprise in his voice, "I've never been inside an old-fashioned house like this before. It's really cozy."
I glared at him with suspicion, believing him to be mocking me with his words. However, I noticed that his expression was filled with genuine curiosity, which took me aback.
"Neither have I," I responded, crossing my legs and hugging them close to my chest. "Until recently..."
Parsa glanced at me but he didn't say anything in return. He then pointed at the rose bouquet hanging from the wall downwards with his eyes and asked, "Did your grandmother like flowers?"
"She did," I said quietly, resting my head on my knees as my eyes met his.
His gaze immediately fell on me, his sharp stare studying every inch of my face without breaking eye contact.
"What?" he whispered back; his tone was calm.
I flinched without thinking, my eyes twitching as I glanced away. What am I doing looking at him like this...?
I cleared my throat as my face reddened. "N-Nothing."
He quietly placed his left hand over my shoulders and leaned in towards me, as if he was about to say something causing my body to tense.
But just as quickly, he pulled back as he heard the steady footsteps of my mother and granny approaching our way.
He quickly straightened himself up as the footsteps grew louder and soon entered the room with trays carrying the cups of black tea and homemade carrot cake that my mother always made.
My mom smiled brightly while offering us both cups of tea. I glanced over at Parsa, noticing the way he politely accepted the cup and thanked her.
The smell of tea and the aroma of fluffy cakes suddenly filled the room, breaking the tense atmosphere with a sense of comfort and warmth. She proceeded to take her seat in the armchair placed next to Parsa's side and calmly opened her arms out, indicating for him to feel comfortable. "Make yourself at home!"
Parsa's eyes suddenly softened as he smiled politely; his playful and arrogant demeanor completely shifted at the sight of my grandmother.
"Thank you for having me," he said solemnly, bowing his head politely.
I chuckled silently to myself as I grabbed a cup of tea with a slice of carrot cake. This must be his fake side.
The minute my smirk caught his attention, Parsa quickly slipped his hand behind my back silently, brushing his fingers against my knit sweater. I nearly choked on the tea in my mouth as I jolted slightly in response and snapped my eyes at him. I stared at him intensely, desperately trying to somehow telepathically communicate and ask him, What are you doing?!...
