As the sounds escalated, so did my uneasiness; a sense of dread settled in my stomach. My attention shifted to the voice, now unmistakably female, pleading, "Ah, slow... Nghh... Aaaah!... K-Kiss m-me..."

T-They're... Doing it!...

My mouth was agape as I shivered.

Parmis' innocent question broke through the ominous silence, causing me to jolt; her small frame appeared before me asking, "Is Dadash* in his room?"

***Dadash: Is an informal way to call your brother in Persian***

Panic surged through me, and I swiftly moved to prevent her from approaching the door. Stuttering nervously, I struggled to maintain my composure as I uttered, "Parsa... is sleeping!"

Horrified by the scene unfolding behind closed doors and worried about Parmis overhearing, I swiftly grabbed her little figure and turned her away, hastily ushering her down the stairs. As we made our way towards the living room, I urgently suggested, "Let's play here until he wakes up!"

With wonder in her eyes, Parmis looked at me for a brief moment, but her curiosity quickly gave way to excitement. "Let's draw something together!" she exclaimed enthusiastically.

I settled onto the plush carpet in front of the couch, resting my elbows on the smooth surface of the coffee table. Parmis hurriedly fetched her school bag and placed it beside me on the floor. With eager hands, she carefully extracted her sketchbook and drawing pencils, placing them neatly on the table before us.

As my pencil danced across the pristine paper, I stole glances at Parmis, who looked adorable as she sketched her own creation. My thoughts swirled, perplexed by Parsa's actions. He must have lost his mind to do something like that when he knew we would be arriving soon...

My grip tightened on the pencil as my teeth nibbled the edge of my lower lip. Thank goodness Parmis didn't go upstairs first.

As I focused on the pencil in my hand, mindlessly sketching, Parmis's question pierced through my distracted thoughts, snapping me back to reality. "Is that a ghost?" she asked, peering curiously at my sketch.

"Huh?" I looked down at the paper, where an abstract figure with a hint of dark, shadowy features had taken form in haphazard strokes. The vague resemblance to a haunting spectre left me pondering; I mumbled as I tilted my head, "I guess?..."

"You got some talents!" My heart nearly leaped out of my chest as I heard a voice suddenly appear on my right side. "Agh!" I squeaked, startled as I spun my head towards him. "You?! When?" My words stumbled as I struggled to calm my racing pulse; my palm instinctively settled onto my chest.

Shervin grinned, his hands casually crossed over his chest. "Hi, pretty boy!" he greeted, his eyes gleaming with warmth. He was wearing a plain white shirt with long sleeves and denim baggy jeans this time.

Parmis bolted towards Shervin, arms extended as if yearning to be picked up. "Shervin!" she called out joyfully.

With effortless elegance, Shervin crouched down and scooped Parmis into his arms, his right arm securely encircling her legs. Straightening up, Parmis wrapped her arms around Shervin's neck, her excitement evident. "Our little princess is here!" Shervin declared affectionately, his grip firm and protective.

Parmis beamed with excitement as she proudly declared, "Mhm! Mommy and Daddy went on a trip!" Her infectious smile brightened her face.

Confusion clouded my mind as I leaned back against the couch, my eyes widening in surprise. Mommy? I thought, bewildered. Parsa had indicated he didn't have a mother.
