Emily and Yejune stand silently side by side in Coach Shin's office, who only stared down at her desk in clear disappointment.
Apparently having four days from the incident had not helped to calm her anger down and if anything, it has only seemed to intensified it. Emily had been hoping and crossing her fingers that she will not get into big trouble however the possibility seems unlikely considering how the Director of the training center was also present at the scene.
Perhaps if he wasn't there, maybe Emily would have gotten off more lightly.
"Do you both have any idea how much of a mess you have created?" Coach Shin's voice boomed loudly around her tiny office. Emily is sure that if anyone is walking past Coach Shin's office right now is bound to hear everything that is going on inside.
"The Director even had to pay journalists and news sites to keep the videos from circulating on the national television," Coach Shin continued.
"Her people were the ones to post it on social media on the first place. If anything, she should be the one being punishes. She physically assaulted me," Yejune said.
Emily threw her ridiculous look. Physically assaulted? Did this pea brain forget that it was her who had pushed Emily in the pool in the first place?
"Yejune!" Coach Shin screeched.
One thing Emily is evidently good at is being able to keep her mouth shut when she is required to do, something Yejune has clearly failed to learn despite being an adult now.
"When will you ever learn to keep this brazen attitude of yours in check. We had this exact conversation last week and still look what you did! I had warned you that your actions will eventually lead to consequences and congratulations! you have some very big consequences now," Coach Shin said.
"How any of this my fault? She is the one who threw the bottle at me. She physically assaulted me first," Yejune said, looking furious and pointing at Emily.
Before Emily could get in a word, however, Coach Shin said, "And it wasn't you who screamed at her in public first? And it wasn't you who threw the bottle in her direction one, albeit it didn't actually hit Eunmi. And let's not forget, was it not you who pushed her in the pool?"
Yejune went silent as she appeared to be shell shocked. Emily too is surprised as she did not expect for Coach Shin to know what actually had happened.
"I-I..." Yejune stammered like a fish out of water.
"What? Did you think you could fool me? I'm not an idiot. It is a good thing that Eunmi had the sense to make up a lie when people questioned her otherwise we will be having a much bigger problem on our hands to deal with. Your behavioral problems are reaching the high point now. Be grateful the director does not know about this otherwise your disciplinary action will be much more severe," Coach Shin said.
"The both of you are prohibited from participating in any competitions until the Asian Games," Coach Shin announced.
Emily's mouth flew open at the severity of the punishment and her brain racked to do the math. It's first week of May right now which means the Asian Games are just a little over three months away.
No swimming competitions for three months? Nothing at all? What were they supposed to do then?
"Consider yourself lucky that you both have already qualified to swim at the Asian Games. The Director was adamant on making you two miss that as well but I convinced him it won't do well in our favor. You both also need to write letters of apologies to the Dean of Sebong University and are not allowed to post, make statements or any sort of public gestures on social media for at least a month. You both know the consequences when it comes to social media," Coach Shin said, "Is that clear?"
