Sometimes, life puts you into awkward situations which you simply cannot avoid. Which is exactly the same situation Emily is in right now.

At the end of the last academic year, the previous female representative of the sports department on the student council came to Emily and offered her the position as she was graduating.

Emily, one with practicality and logic, obviously refused. Besides, Emily had also pointed out that there are plenty of more viable candidates out there. Emily is a failed athlete who couldn't even make it onto the national team last year. She has not even won any international competitions since turning sixteen and neither is the swimming department in Sebong even impressive. There are so many more female athletes in Sebong who are much more deserving the title. Besides, Emily did not want to deal with the extra drama that comes with the meetings.

Next thing Emily know, Coach Ma has come to her as well as the Head of Sports Department and before she knew it, Emily became the new student council representative. And now she is headed to her very first meeting.

Standing in front of the door, Emily looks down onto the email on her phone and makes sure she has the right room down. The worst thing that could happen is for her to walk into a random room.

Taking a deep breath in, she opens the door and peeks her head in. The room is not empty however it is neither completely filled in as well, which makes sense since Emily is ten minutes earlier.

She takes a hesitant step in feeling a bit more comfortable as none of the room's inhabitants seem taken by her presence.

There are about six people in the room however Emily only recalls the names of three; Irene, Joshua and Jinyoung. Irene is a third year student and Emily has seen her around in the Department of Science building as she is studying medicine. Emily recalls taking an anatomy lecture with Irene last year. Then is Jinyoung, who is also a third year student. He is quite popular among students as he was the secretary for the student council last year and is quite the diplomat when it comes to negotiating more for student rights. Now he is the president. And then, of course, Joshua needs no introduction.

"Emily!"

Of course. How can Emily forget.

Jackson.

The fencer.

"You came!" Jackson sounded impressed.

Emily forced a small smile, hating how Jackson's loud booming voice has attracted all the attraction towards her.

"Of course," She spoke in a small voice, walking towards where Jackson is sitting but making sure to sit a few chairs away to maintain distance, "Why would I not come?"

"Oh, no, cause I heard you were super reluctant to join the student council. So I thought you'd probably just ditch," Jackson spoke nonchalantly, as if unaware that everyone is listening to him. From the corner of her eye, Emily spies Jinyoung raise an eyebrow, clearly not impressed.

"I always make sure to see my end of the commitments," Emily tells Jackson. Then she takes out her phone, hoping Jackson will take it as a hint that she isn't interested in a conversation.

Soon enough nearly everyone on the student council arrives and Emily realizes she does recognize almost all of the members sitting around her. Nearly most of the members on the council are very popular individuals around the campus, either due to having rich backgrounds or being popular on social media due to their beauty or money. In fact, Emily realizes, she is most likely the only person on the council who isn't popular, rich, or pretty.

Well, that is definitely not intimidating.

"Alright," Jinyoung stands up from his desk and Emily can't help but let herself admire the strong veins popping from his forearms. God really did make a perfect man.
