To say Emily is surprised is an understatement.

To say she is shocked is the next understatement.

"J-J-Jeonghan," Emily stammered, feeling like an idiot at her inability to form a sound sentence.

Jeonghan smiled as if he fished out the exact reaction he wanted from Emily and teasingly, mocked her, "J-j-jeonghan. I love the effect I have on you."

That snapped Emily immediately out of the delusions she was having and she said, "What the hell? Why would you surprise me like that."

"I thought you loved surprises," Jeonghan said.

"Not from jerks like you," Emily said.

The pedestrian signal turned green and Emily turns around to cross it. Much to her annoyance , Jeonghan decides to join along.

"What do you want?" Emily asked.

"You know, I much preferred it when you used o quack like a duck at every word I spoke and less of this talking back," Jeonghan suggested.

"Then maybe it is a good thing we're not involved with each other anymore," Emily replied, stopping in the middle of the pavement to look at Jeonghan and give him a pointed look, "You don't have to hear my quacking anymore and I don't have to look at your shit face."

Emily tries to walk again but Jeonghan prevents her from doing so by tightly grabbing her elbow. From a third person's point of view, it would appear that Jeonghan is only gripping Emily lightly but in reality, he is having such a strong hold on her that if Emily would have not been wearing a hoodie, she is likely to have gotten bruises from him fingertips.

Jeonghan's eyes are fierce and sharp. His face remains stoic and mostly void of all emotions but his eyes show a different story and Emily realizes that this time she has finally hit a nerve within him and his patience has run thin. Maybe she was being too harsh. After all, Emily can't remember the last time she hadn't encouraged Jeonghan and had not called him a name or has not insulted him.

Emily likes to announce and say that Jeonghan does not affect her or that she does not care about him anymore but deep down she knew that it was all a facade. Jeonghan still did very much irritate her and as much as she hated it, whatever he did still very much affected her.

"Jeonghan," Emily said, calmly and softly, "Let me go."

Jeonghan held onto her for a few more seconds before very slowly releasing his iron grip on her elbow.

Emily sighed, tired, and asks, "What do you want Jeonghan?"

Jeonghan inhaled a deep breath and as if remembering they are in public, took a step behind, away from her.

"Why did you ignore him in the cafe," Jeonghan asked.

He really wanted to know, didn't he?

"I didn't ignore you," Emily said, "I didn't know it was you."

"Liar," Jeonghan called her out.

"Why do you care? It's not like we're friends," Emily said, "Besides, you were preoccupied with...your friend."

Emily wasn't sure what word to use. She is sure that it was Jeonghan girlfriend or the girl he is currently hooking up with but she also did not want to make any wrong assumptions or let out the intention that she cares, which she very much does not.

Jeonghan only nodded his head as if it made sense and suddenly a thought strikes Emily and she asked, "Why didn't you say anything if you recognized me and care so much."
"It was fun to see you cower," Jeonghan replied.
