A.N: just a small chapter ~

Joe woke up to the sound of Daisy's steps. Propping up on his elbow, he looked at the door as he waited for his daughter to appear. Glancing at Theo's peaceful expression, he was just in time to bring a finger to his lips when Daisy arrived and opened his mouth to say something. When the girl remained quiet, he smiled and gestured for her to come to him. Hugging her to the bed, he put the kid between them as he brushed her hair out of her tiny face.

Pointing at Theo, Daisy tapped her finger on her wrist before mimicking walking with two fingers, silently asking: when will Dad wake up?

Joe shrugged and looked over at his husband. He'd been doing better. He hated to admit that the hospital had done him some good and the terrible shaking of his hand had stopped now. The workload did frustrate him occasionally but the awful breakdowns had died down for the past couple of months since his discharge.

Frowning at his response, Daisy turned to Theo and carefully kissed him on the cheek. A smile stretched the beautiful lips a bit as his man lifted an arm and pulled Daisy into his arms.

"Noooo! Daddy wake upppp! I'm boooored!" She whined, trying to set herself free.

"But I'm so tiiiired~ I wanna sleep some more." Theo teased in a childish voice, keeping his eyes closed.

"How can you be tired after waking up, daddy? Be rational." Upon Daisy's words, both of them burst out laughing. Preschool was really teaching kids words above their ages.

"It's called being an adult and almost middle-aged, kiddo." Theo kissed the top of her head.

"Ew, are you turning old, daddy? That's so cringe."

"Joe, get your gen alpha kid away from me. I can't deal with this vocabulary. I knew half of the Oxford dictionary by heart when I was her age." Theo teased but Joe knew that he really did dislike the new generation's way of talking.

Chuckling, he lifted Daisy with one arm and left the bedroom. Theo was sleeping a bit more these days but that was fine. As long as he didn't have those terrible episodes, everything would be fine.

"Okay. Today I want to go to the amusement park and I want to go shopping too. My clothes are all small for me now. I need a whole new set of matching clothes with matching shoes and matching backpacks. Also, look," She opened a page on her iPad, showing it to Joe. "I want this bed. It's so pretty!"

Glancing at the picture, he nodded and continued preparing breakfast. Some would say they were spoiling the kid but he didn't care. Coming from a poor family, he wanted to give his child everything she would ever desire.

"Is Willy coming today?" She asked, looking at the clock on the wall and swinging her legs. Over the past months, she had come to like 'Willy' quite a lot.

"I'm not sure. He hasn't responded to my text yet." He tapped on his phone to check again but no new notifications were there from the boy.

"Are we throwing him a birthday party? Daddy said it's his birthday next week."

"Whose? William's?!" He asked, shocked.

"Yep! You didn't know?!" Daisy pulled a face and shook her head at him.

Ruffling her hair, he put the plate in front of her. "Eat." Pinching her cheek lightly, he grabbed his phone to check his calendar. It was indeed William's birthday next week. What was he supposed to order on such short notice?!

"A cigarette first thing after waking up, babe?" He stole the pack out of Theo's hand before he could take any out of it.

"Come on!" Theo frowned, reaching for it.

Joe didn't give in. "You're doing so well. It's been a whole month without a single smoke. You got this!"

"It's been a whole month because you and William have been the cigarette police for the entirety of it. I need new partners." He grumbled, going to the bathroom instead.

It was true, and it had been William's secret offer to Joe; to work together and make Theo stop smoking altogether once and for all. William had sat Theo down and played a documentary about all the horrible things smoking does to the lungs and the body. He then told him with teary eyes that he was already going to outlive the two of them by 10 years, he didn't want the smoking to shorten their years together further. It was comical, really, but Theo was a sucker for cute boys and that had done it. Though, he did relapse here and there.

A message finally came from William. It was a selfie in bed with that friend of his by his side:

He's broken up with his boyfriend. He's very sad and I've been trying to cheer him up. I can't go to you this weekend. See you on Monday. Sorry!

Frowning at his phone, he wondered if this was a generation gap. William always seemed okay to not always be with them on the weekends which was very strange. With him and Theo, they pretty much always did everything together. Not even a 'miss you' in that message!

"Why are you frowning so hard?" Theo came out in his bathrobe.

Looking at his husband, Joe shook his head. Pushing the phone in his pocket, he grabbed Theo's shoulders, turned him around and pushed him back to the bathroom. "We need to shave your head because it's become a mess. As always: Unless you wanna grow it. Your finger tattoos need some retouching as well. And why haven't you shaved your face in days?" Pushing Theo down, he started getting everything ready.

His husband rolled his eyes and sat down quietly while he prepared everything. They talked about different things and Daisy joined them on the bathroom floor with her sketchbook and coloring pencils, drawing them as usual. He loved his relationship with Theo. He wished he could have the same thing with William soon, too.
