Stuck chapter 22

After weeks of feeling like a giant blackhole, void of life, there were tiny sparks shimmering inside of him again. He had missed Daisy so much, it felt like he was missing his limbs. Joe hadn't told him why their baby girl was still with her mother but it didn't matter much. The important thing was they were soon going to be home and he could shower his princess in a million kisses. There were around 16 different gifts waiting for her in her bedroom. He bought them all when he went to buy that watch for William. He couldn't help having Daisy at the back of his mind all the time.

Getting the pizza out of the oven, he was just in time as he saw Joe's car pull up. Taking the gloves off, he threw them somewhere carelessly as he ran to the door and opened it with the hugest smile on his face.

"Hi, princess!" He went in for a hug but... with the step that Daisy took back, away from him, his arms fell along with his smile.
"What's wrong? What happened?!" He asked, looking at Joe. There had never been a time in which Daisy hadn't run to him upon seeing him from a mile away. So this was very strange.

Joe seemed quite shocked as well. Shrugging shortly, he crouched down next to their daughter. "Daisy? Why don't you give daddy a hug?" He nudged the kid forward but she wouldn't budge.

"I don't want to." She said, a deep frown and a deadly expression on her face.

She... didn't want to.
Daisy didn't want to hug him.
Theo felt like his soul left his body. He immediately felt tears building up but he bit on his tongue rather hard to get rid of them.

"Why don't you want to, baby?" He forced himself to ask calmly.

"Mom said you're the reason why I don't have a real family."

"What do you mean? We are a real family! I'm your dad!" Theo said, finding it hard to breathe and keep standing on his feet. Instead of panic, he was feeling anger he had inherited from dear father bubbling up from the pit of his stomach.

"You're not my dad!" Daisy said, huffing. "Mom and dad kissed and I was born. Mom said if it wasn't for you, I could have a family like all the other kids but now I have 2 dads which is not normal."

"Mom said that, did she?" Theo raised an eyebrow, finding it very hard not to break something.

Joe must've picked up on it cuz the next second, he practically grabbed the kid and took her to her room upstairs, running back down before Theo could exhale.

"How long was she with her?" He asked through gritted teeth as soon as Joe was in his sight.

"2 weeks. Babe I-" Joe walked to him, attempting to cup his face but Theo slapped his hands away, grabbing his collar and pulling him forward roughly instead.

Glaring into his husband's eyes, Theo breathed in and out loudly with how enraged he was. "You leave her with that psychopath for two fucking weeks, Joe?" He really held himself back from yelling. "Explain yourself." His tone was authoritative the way he was taught by his father. He knew Joe hated it when he used it on him but he didn't care right now.

"We were snowed under at the company. It was always one thing or another and I didn't have the mental or timely capability to have her with me." Joe looked directly into his eyes as he accepted the staring challenge but Theo could see right past him. He would always yield under this version of Theo in the end, even if he didn't show it out right.

"Then you should've used a fucking condom." He said venomously, pushing Joe away from himself, making the other stumble for a moment. "I'm not her dad! She says I! Who actually am the only one who really cares about her and takes care of all her needs, am not her dad. And that you, who couldn't care less if the full custody was taken away from, and that money-crazed bitch are her parents." Blinking the blurriness away, he clenched his jaw as he nodded a couple times. "You know what? She can have it. She can have her nice little family. Who am I, right?" He knew he didn't mean it. He knew he would be right back. But he just... he just felt so betrayed.
