He was looking straight into her eyes.

"No", he simply said and suddenly got up, starting to get dressed.

He looked cold as ever, and his look was lost, like empty, and Alora saw that.

"I asked you, and you won't give me a proper answer, why?" She asked, confused.

"Because there's nothing to tell", he answered.

"I just gave you my body and soul, and I felt you did the same, now this?"She said to him.

"You get what you wanted so you are free to go, is that it?"She continued to ask questions, but he just kept quiet.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you", he told her, with his serious tone.

She was looking at him pale, in shock.

"Are you sure that you hurt me, or yourself?" She asked with tears in her eyes.

"Stop putting pressure on me, Alora", he raised his voice and left.

She didn't know what to think.

It was like she was talking to two different men, at the same time, which was odd.

He was changing like the weather, and she couldn't believe it.

Maybe she asked the wrong question at the wrong time, but she wanted to know, she needed him to open up himself to her.

Maybe he didn't know that yet, but it was a good thing, even if he needed time, she was ready to give him all the time in this world.

She knew that now, and was ready for it.

Kayden needed her love because he was never loved by his mate and she wanted to be that one.

This wasn't just sex, it was much more, she could feel that, and so could he, it was obvious, but something inside him was broken, and she wanted to know what.

She wanted more of him, all that he could give her, and he had much to give, she knew it.

She felt that while they made love.

Yes.

They made love.

She felt his lips and his warm breath on her neck, and every time he was too close, he would give up on marking her, which was hard for his wolf to not mark his mate.

He was afraid of her, of bonding because why would he leave like that, after they just made love passionately?

When he closed the door after he left, she felt an emptiness in her soul, pain.

He hurt her.

She felt useless.

She didn't want things going like this.

Yes, she wanted him, but not just empty sex, every time he remembers that she exists.

They were mates, for God's sake, there needed to be more between them, much more, everything that two people who love each other can give and take, at the same time...

Maybe it was too early?

Or, it's too late?

"Shit!" Alora hissed.

"Damn you, Kayden", she whispered, tears falling down her cheeks.

For the next few weeks, Alora tried to avoid Kayden, but there was no need for that because she didn't see him at all.

Kayden was avoiding her.

He would be at the training ground or in his office, where he would eat, or he would do that while she was in her room, or at the hospital.

She was having her meals with Jake and Ella, who both found it strange that Kayden behaved like that.

It wasn't like him, at least not since that time he was rejected, and that was a long time ago, but Jake knew him too well, that he could tell when something wasn't right

But, this time, Kayden closed himself down again, and Jake had enough of that, if he continued to act like that, he would have a serious talk with him, he decided.

Even Alora was exhausted, he thought, she was killing herself at the hospital, not to mention that she was trying to bond with the pack, she was really trying and Kayden just didn't care, he thought.

This girl was made for him, damn it, and he was a jerk.

The third week they were having dinner when Kayden showed up as if nothing happened.

"Good evening", he said and took a place next to Alora.

Jake just watched him, thinking that he finally come to his senses, and Ella was happy too, because of Alora, but Alora hadn't.

She was shaking because of his closeness, and the fact she didn't know what to say, except answer his "Good evening". and continue to eat as if nothing was going on.

But it was too hard for her, too damn hard, but the thing she didn't know was that it was the same for him too, just that he could hide it better than she.

He had much more control because he was trained for that, she was just a human with feelings that wanted to scream out of her.

"Jake, I heard that girls are quite well as warriors", Kayden started a conversation.

"Yes, they are, but you were there, you could see by yourself", Jake told him.

"I was, but not when they were trained, but I will, I'm curious to see if I made a good decision", Kayden said.

"You did, my friend, no worries, and the fact that the warriors don't fight no more until they faint, was a good one, they train with more strength now", Jake said with a chuckle.

A shy smile was on Kayden's lips, which was a surprise for them because it was hard to see him smile, ever, especially for Alora.

She knew she was right when she thought that she saw him smile a bit.

She wasn't aware that she was the one who smiled now, especially because it was all her idea, and he accepted it.

That made Ella smile loudly because the whole situation was so weird that she needed a good laugh.

"You've been busy Alpha, because we haven't seen you for some time", Ella said, but she knew well, that it had something to do with Alora, so she wanted to shake him up a bit.

"There are rogues attack again, and this time it's more harder and often, so I've been busy with others Alpha's", he said, but it was just half true.

The real reason was he and Alora.
