It was a few days after that thing happened with Michael.
I'd seen him around a few times but I never talked to him. I wasn't as forgiving as Nolan was.

"One medium coffee. 2 sugars please."

The cashier nodded and tapped a couple times on her screen behind the counter. I didn't usually add sugar to anything. Especially not my coffee. But since I woke up from my coma, coffee was always too bitter for some reason.

I paid the amount and waited on a chair for my order to be called.

~flashback~

Nolan: "I love this place. They have the best donuts."

"I like the coffee."

Nolan: "I'm more of a tea drinker."

"Yeah?"

Nolan: "Coffee is too bitter for me."

"What else don't you like?"

He bit into his donut again and got some icing on his nose.

Nolan: "Not much.. I don't like onions I guess. It's the smell that bothers me."

I grabbed a napkin and leaned over the table to wipe it off him.

"Got your nose ~"

I held up the crumpled napkin. He laughed and looked down at the table.

Nolan: "Stop, you're so cheesy.."

~flashback ends~

I realized someone was talking to me and I looked up.

David: "Sorry.. Uh, they said this was yours."

He held out a medium cup. It had "2 sugar" written on the side.

"Oh, thank you."

I grabbed it from him. I knew him from somewhere. He wore a stylish leather jacket and jeans.

David: "Not sure if you remember me, but my name's David. We met at that party, remember?"

"Oh, yeah."

David: "Can I sit with you?"

I told him yeah. He smiled and sat of the other side. I had no idea what he wanted.

David: "I like your style, by the way. It's very 'old money'."

I was confused. Was he calling me old?

David: "The aesthetic, I mean. Like, you dress like you're rich."

"Ah."

We sat quietly.
I could feel that he was like me, a gentleman. It was the way he sat properly and looked at the cafe plants instead of the girls in skirts like other guys would.

David: ".. Wanna be friends?"

It looked like he was holding back a smile. I couldn't tell if he was excited or embarrassed. No one had ever asked to be my friend before. Not straight up like that.

"Yeah, okay."

I played it cool and shrugged. He smiled.

David: "Really? Thanks, man. We're gonna get along great. I can tell."

He went on about how he's been wanting new friends. He didn't say it, but he was definitely straight. That put me at ease. I knew I was hot, but I didn't need anymore people getting obsessed with me.

David: "How's your girl? The one from the party?"

"She's alright."

I didn't want to talk about her. I felt guilty enough.
