One for the workers found us in the hall and led us to a room. A room where all the walls were just giant aquariums. Only one wall was empty with just water and plants. The floor was completely cleared other than a fluffy blanket. The only glow was blue from the water and some green from the plants. And the only sound was the discreet ripples of waves and water. Nolan was definitely impressed.

Nolan: "Woah.."

The worker told us we had an hour to have the room to ourselves. I thanked her and she left us on our own.

Nolan and I sat in the middle, on the blanket and began to eat.

Nolan: "Wow. It's like a picnic! Underwater!"

He ate a chicken nugget after dipping it in his BBQ sauce. I mixed around my poutine and split the portion in half. Knowing Nolan, he was gonna want some. Even though he said he didn't.

"Are you having fun?"

Nolan: "Yes! I definately am! Thank you..."

He smiled at me with a little blush on his face. His eyes looked pretty with the soft glow of the water around us.

I ate a bit and drank some water. He sipped his sprite.

Nolan: "I kind of feel bad. You had all this planned and all I did was buy you flowers."

He looked at the roses and tulips I had next to me.

"Hey, I like them. And they're not all you did."

We looked into each other's eyes.

"You gave me your time today, didn't you? And you made me laugh."

We smiled at each other.

"Seeing you smile is all I really need in return. I like knowing that you're happy."

He ate a chicken nuggets and chewed it with a smile.

His attention focused back to the fish around us.
Suddenly, there was movement in the empty tank.

Nolan: "What's that...?"

He squinted at it and shoved the last nugget in his mouth. He stood up slowly and wandered closer to the glass. His face lit up.

Nolan: "These are.. seahorses?! Lou, look! Oh my gosh!"

He screamed excitedly.

Nolan: "So many! Oh, I love them! So cute! I wanna eat them!"

I couldn't help but laugh. I almost choked on a piece of cheese from my poutine.

Nolan: "Aww! I love sea horses! Wow..."

He melted to his knees and wave his hands around to get their attention. I smiled to myself and drank some water.

Nolan: "I can't believe you planned all this for me...."

He continued to watch the seahorses and pet them through the glass. Watching him made my heart feel fuzzy. He quietly watched as the seahorses danced around with one another. Once he'd calmed down a bit, he spoke again.

Nolan: "Hey, so um... I did some thinking. About what I said the other day. About not wanting a relationship to get in the way of my mental health. I think maybe I got it wrong. It's not that at all. I think... I do want a relationship. Especially one that makes me happy... Like you do."

A seahorse did a flip of some kind and I think Nolan almost forgot what he was talking about.

Nolan: "Um.. My mental health isn't at its best. I think subconsciously I feel like maybe someone like me just doesn't deserve to be happy..."

He brought his knees up to his head and finally looked at me.

Nolan: "I've been through a lot. I feel so broken some days. Damaged. Lost. I guess... I just wonder how anyone can love someone like me.."

He held the back of his hand to his eyes. Maybe to stop tears from coming.

I stood up and wandered over to him. I fell to my knees and hugged him close. He held my back and snuggled into he crook of my neck.

I rubbed his back gently.

"You're not broken. But even if you were, everyone is a little lost. Right? Which makes you normal in the end."

He sighed onto my shoulder.

"You have a beautiful soul, Nolan. That's why I love you. Because no matter what you go through, you keep finding reasons to smile. You're stronger than you realize."

He finally let go and sat on his legs.
He sniffled and wiped one of his watery eyes with a sleeve. I reached my hand out and wiped a tear with my thumb. He closed his eyes from my touch and leaned into my hand.

Nolan: "I'm sorry."

"Don't be."

He leaned into my chest and cuddled into my shirt again. I held him close and leaned my head onto his.

We cuddled for a little longer before agreeing that it was getting late. Nolan felt a little better after eating the rest of my poutine.

I walked him home after that.

Nolan: "Thanks again for this. I can't believe we spent 4 hours in there! It was so much fun.. The seahorses were my favorite."

"I'm glad. Oh, hold on.."

I picked a couple flowers from my bouquet and handed them to him. He smiled and held them tightly.

Nolan: "Thanks."

I nodded. It was only fair that he got flowers too. He looked up at the stars for a moment. I looked up too. Everything was perfect. The air. The dark sky. The pale Moon. The gentle smile on Nolan's adorable freckled face. It was all so perfect. It was the kind of moment that you wish you could keep in a bottle or something.

Nolan: "Um... Lou?"

"Yes?"

Our eyes locked. His hands fiddled nervously with the flowers he held.

Nolan: "If you still want to... Can I.. be your boyfriend.. again?"

My heart did a happy back flip. It was hard not to freak out. I cleared my throat and tried to stand still.

"Yeah. Yes. I'd like that. Sure."

I felt my face blush. I hoped it wasn't obvious.

He held the flowers close to his heart and sighed happily.

Nolan put his loose hair behind his ears and smiled. He looked into my eyes with a soft gaze.
I needed to do something.
So I kissed his cheek quickly. He gave me the cutest expression and blushed harder than I did.

Nolan: "Um...You missed..."

I looked at his mouth and he looked at mine. I took the opportunity and kissed him properly on the lips.

I pulled him closer and our kiss suddenly got deeper. My heart beat so fast even though I somehow felt calmer, too.

The last part of our kiss was gentle and relaxed. I could feel the dopamine rushing through every part of me. I felt like I could jump up to the moon if I wanted. Our lips parted slowly, leaving a bit of space between us.

He tucked his hair behind his ear shyly.

Nolan: "Good night, then..."

Our hands released one another.

"Good night."

He made his way up the steps and unlocked the door. He gave me a little wave before going inside his home.

I stood still for a minute, processing everything. I touched my lips and thought of him.

"My boyfriend..."

I smiled and headed for my house.

I could barely sleep that night.

Every thought of him just made me giddy and stupid.

I think at some point I even imagined some scenarios with him.

That's when I knew I was definately in love with this guy.
